This album is twice as good as his previous effort and I have therefore given it two stars. His voice is still annoying though. Maybe someone should suggest to him (nicely) he does an instrumental album. Yikes..

This album is awful. Terrible vocals, terrible songs, so-so backing - you begin to get the idea. This is a record that is completely lacking in charisma and imagination. Put it this way if he was still in the army they would have had him put him against the wall and shot!

Listening to James Blunt for the first time, I wasn't sure what to think of this artist. I've listened to many types of musicians during my time and I'll have to be honest it took me only two times to enjoy his music. When The Bedlam Sessions came out, it took no time for me to purchase this item. Watching the DVD of his performance shows how much passion and desire he has for his music. The complete package is great. You get a live recording of a show from Ireland and then a DVD from a show at the BBC. On top of that, several videos of his songs plus an interview. What's more, too much of All the Lost Souls is just pleasant ether, with Blunt showing a gift for drabness on forgettable ballads that make Coldplay seem like the Arctic Monkeys. Blunt can write a solid pop song now and then. But on All the Lost Souls, the impulse to woo you with that androgynous voice and Byronic sensitivity overwhelms his better instincts. " Rolling Stone


James Blunt has been savaged by his critics on this CD. 'Insipid' and 'lame' are a few words that are used. I found the CD refreshing at times. I wonder if the critics are focusing on Blunt's recent foray into the public world with fresh young women on each arm, and the drug and alcohol craze. James Blunt is brilliant and so refreshing. About time we had something different and truly British.
As a matter of interest I am 66yrs. old and I think he is great. Cannot get the songs out of my head. That means something. Maybe said person would prefer Eros Ramazotti great singer and entertainer and up in the league with the greats! Try him, you will not be disappointed.

Carry You Home [CD 1]

As respects liking his music, or not, I'm in the in-between camp.

I loved 'Beautiful' at first, but soon sickened of it. I did, however love 'Goodbye etc' and eventually bought 'Bedlam' for that vastly under-rated love song. I then got to quite like some other tracks.

I haven't yet bought 'All The Lost Souls', and to be honest found '1973' and its follow up monotonous from the outset.

I do however rate 'Carry You Home' as his best work since 'Goodbye My Lover' and feel the lyrics are heartbreakingly poignant with an excellent video to aid its sales.

He may be referring to his own time as a soldier; or may be making a political point. I don't care, it's a lovely single.

Personally I'll wait for a compilation ... Read More:

Every song full of emotion and meaning with melodies that command the listener's attention. An album with the ability to be an active part of anyone's music collection for a long time.
