This is a collection of songs that obviously mean a lot to James and it is a chance for us to get a little insight into the man himself. He treats all of them with respect whilst giving them the treatment that only James Taylor could.

As he's said himself these are songs he's been playing live regularly over the years, and it shows, they are played with beautiful precision and emotion. I see this album as a James Taylor tribute to his favourite songs, and what a fitting tribute it is.

I am biased of course because I love James Taylor's voice...! but this is sublime for a christmas feel anytime of the year...even if,like me, you are not vaguely religious, all the songs just feel 'right'!

You've Got A Friend: The Best Of James Taylor

This is a great album; as soon I listened to the first song I was hooked on this man, I listened to this cd for a month non-stop; his voice has something in it which I could never tire of hearing again and again; every song on here is a gem; Steamroller and Mexico spring to mind as two of the best on this cd; an utter joy to listen to anytime of the day.

This guy has a very special voice and the songs are quite catchy too. Some of the songs have a "country" feel to it but overall I loved it.
5 stars for a great singer.

One Man Band (CD+DVD)

As a lifelong fan of JT (I grew up listening to his songs) I was gutted I missed the DVD of this set being shown on TV last week. I ordered this, and let me say this is excellent. If you are a fan of JT, get this, a great live album, and the DVD of the show, with insights into his past and family life, with his typically dry sense of humour, are magic to watch and listen to.

Greatest Hits Vol.2

packaged quite clearly to evoke the massive selling greatest hits album from 1976, this is a very different creature. i discovered the magic of taylor through that first volume of greatest hits and the voice is still as wonderful, but the tone has become ever so much lighter and more grown up. the heart that flows through 'fire & rain', or the passion of a 'mexico' are no longer in evidence. this record has some highs such as 'only a dream in rio' or 'shed a little light', but they are much more muted highs than those of a decade or more before. it plays as if JT has so perfected his songwriting and musical skills that some of the raw edge has been lost.

Mud Slide Slim and the Blue Horizon

I've liked a lot of James Taylor's material for more years than I care to mention. His transformation from early 70s hippie to modern day balding favourite uncle, has been littered with some truly classic songs.
When I was young and "hip" this was one of the albums you walked around the school with, tucked under your arm. Although those days are long gone and I now own it on CD, I still love it just as much today.
The key thing that attracted me to Taylor's music was the delicate guitar play that he effortlessly displays on this, and most of his other stand-out albums. It's like a top grade seamstress stitching together high class designs made out of some of the best fabrics you could buy.

I'm amazed this classic has been untouched since its initial cd release in the 80's. Technology has moved on since then, and we deserve a crystal clear version, so we can hear JT's sublime singing and picking in the way it was intended to be heard!

took i while to get into this album although we love james taylor. especialy like trk 1 ,line em up and trk 11 boatman. not his most acessable album but it will grow on you. you can close your eyes is ,and will always be probably my favorite song..........ever!!! [its not on this album by the way] go on give it a spin,you,l love it !
