I've slowly got into john mayer over the last year or so, being introduced to him by guitar students. there's so much good about this.

for any musician of my generation pino paladino and robbie macintosh are well known. Real quality pedigrees. for those of you that don't know the names, they've played with everyone...and the reason is they're perfect. Each of the band line-ups present a lesson in how to play the right parts for the song. Which is why paladino and mackintosh, and the others got their jobs.

This is a truly excellent album. THe acoustic sets are superb and show John Mayer off as the brilliant guitarist that he is. The trio sets and in deed some of the full band songs sound very much like Jimmie Vaughan. It is excellent, the songs are his best, from all previous album, but live. The small twiddly bits between/ leading into songs are very good and original. I would definitely recommend this any day to anyone who like rock, blues or jazz.(I mostly listen to metal by Mayer is the Jazz man that I like, he is a shinning example for all those in his genre) *****. Buy it.

My friend played me Room For Squares one day and after that I was truelly smitten with this artist!!
I cannot get enough of his bluesy notes and can honestly say there is not a single track on any of his albums that I do not like. His style suits all moods and his lyrics draws you in to your imagination and allows you to shut out the world and dream!! Brilliant as always. if you have'nt already heard this man play then do yourself a favour, buy this album and while you're at it, buy the rest of them too!!

"Heavier Things" is John Mayer's second studio album which was released on September 9th of 2003. The style on this album is soft-rock, as this comes from a period before he transitioned into blues. The album consists of 10 tracks, including the Grammy award winning "Daughters". The title of the album appears to be an answer for those who criticized Mayer's music as being too light.

The album opens with "Clarity", a song for which the meaning is not all that clear, but in general it seems to be about Mayer's self-perception. I bought this having stumbled across a john mayer cover of kid a that i thought was brilliant. That and the reviews on here encouraged me however I the album i have just listened to bears no resemblance to what has been described.

If you like your music so bland you forget its playing then this is the album for you. He may have progressed with his later stuff but this is truly awful, save your money.

Try: Live in Concert

I've only recently become aware of John Mayer having seen him on B&W's Live at Abbey Road DVD but I've been really impressed with what I've heard since. Try is just one of those albums where you really feel part of the audience immersed in the performance and what a performance it is! I thoroughly recommend it.

The Village Sessions [Australian Import]

John Mayer is a name that if you asked anyone in the UK they'd reply "who?". That's got to change. I've been into Johns stuff for a few years now and I am really enjoying his new change of direction in Stevie Ray/Hendrix/Clapton influenced tunes. However I was pleased to see he is still keeping his acoustic roots and this album proves he can be both the jazzy electric artist and the soft acoustic ballad musician. Best tracks are "Slow Dancing in a Burning Room", "Good love is on the way", and "In Repair." I was a lil disapointed to see that "Stop This Train" - my favourite track on the Continuum album was not on the CD.
