Some of the previous Reviews seem to imply that this is just Karl Jenkins again (Ho Hum). I wonder if they would say the same about Beethoven "Oh I've heard all nine Symphonies and they are all terribly Beethoven". Well yes and that is their glory as are the works of Karl Jenkins. I have sung both the 'Armed Man' and the 'Requiem' and both moved me beyond measure. I imagine that this will do the same when my Choral Society (inevitably) performs it. Like most Of Jenkins Music the first listening gives the result of "very nice but I am not sure what it's all about'. Jenkins: The Armed Man - A Mass For Peace

This piece just reduces me to tears - probably because my closet friend served in both the Falklands War and the first Gulf War.

A most moving piece of music - to anyone's ears, if only they've got ears to hear.

I am singing it with my choir this year and find it almost impossible to sing it without welling-up.

Worth every penny of the CD's price.

Karl Jenkins - Requiem

As a fan of Adiemus and The Armed Man I bought this CD and immediately dismissed it as not up to his previous standards. Last weekend I went to hear The Armed Man performed live in Liverpool, and was immediately struck by parts in this score I hadn't previous noticed or appreciated. With this in mind I decided to give this CD another chance. I can only say that I am so glad I did for I have played it over several times and am really warming to it. I urge those who have dismissed this work as inferior, do as I have done, and give it another listen - you may be surprised!

Adiemus: Songs of Sanctuary

I was first introduced to Adiemus through the realm of advertising, as was most of the world. I did not know then that the music was available to buy, until I heard it on the radio. I noted down the title (unfortunately I did not hear the composer) and bought the album not entirely sure if I had made a good purchase or even if it was the same as I wanted. When I listened to it I had no need to worry. It was fantastic! I had never been into world music before hearing this but I wouldn't mind giving it a go now; for those of you who don't like that genre, it's still worth the buy as there is enough of the classical style in there.

Karl Jenkins & Adiemus: The Essential Collection

I have been picking up pieces of Jenkins' pieces for a while now but i must say that for anyone new to his work or just interested in hearing some really great music then this album hits the spot. A good collection of many highlights. I recommend it as a great general listening piece and thoroughly worth buying just for adiemus alone! Super!

This Land of Ours

Picked this up Katherine Jenkins had done a Bryn Terfel-type Welsh Album...put it on when I got home and instead of Miss Jenkin's vocals I was greeted by Brass Band and Choir, arranged by Karl Jenkins!!

I have the Voices of the Valley albums as well, this Karl Jenkins album is far, far better. Myfanwy and Hyfrydol bring a tear to my eye. The arrangements are superb, and it has more of a welsh-feel than the Fron choir

An excellent, even if accidental, purchase. I am delighted with it.

Moving On

I wish I had paid more heed to the only 1 star rating by 'a customer'. I too was very disappointed by this CD. I had expected full on concert style piano playing, instead of which I got 'one finger' style playing, very popular with the masses, but not very deep. If you like Clayderman, this may well please you.

The Best Classical Album in the World...Ever!

A fantastic selection of all the tunes you've ever said "Oh.. that's the tune from the ....advert, isn't it? What's it called?" about.

OK that's a very trite comment, but you get my point. Pure enjoyment, without the intervention of the tracks in a single classical album which you have to pretend to appreciate if you're not to look like a Philistine.

An absolute belter..an education, and a gateway to composers you'd never heard of, (neither had I).

The Platinum Collection

I bought this triple CD collection after borrowing the "Requiem" CD from a local library and really enjoying it. Containing as it does not only the Requiem and (very different) the first "Adiemus" volume but also "The Armed Man", I found it an excellent introduction to Karl Jenkins' music. The "Requiem" CD also includes Jenkins' rich "In These Stones Horizons Sing" evocation of Wales - a great bonus. Whilst there are tracks on each CD that I don't really respond to, there is much that I really enjoy and - at the time of writing at least - was able to buy the collection at an astonishingly low bargain price.

My knowledge of classical music is not so advanced, but it is a breed of music you must learn to appreciate if you get what I mean. I am to keen to expand my knowledge of classical music, so buying this album is a great starting point. Classical music is a breed of music which existed long time ago and is really old fashioned, but a real pleasure to listen to. It is very much instrumental orientated. You can hear the piano, violin or the flute with their distinctive sounds in the background.
