Great album with all my favourite tracks. How disappointed I was though with the revamped new vocal for Wuthering Heights. It was overproduced too much backing and Kate's voice dare I say did sound rather tinny and harsh.
The rest of the tracks are super Cloudbusting is great and all my old favourites.
I must track down the original wuthering Heights as I have them all on vinyl but not CD.

I was 18 years old when this album was first released. I bought it, listened to the singles, had a bash at the rest and then sort of forgot about it. It was only when I updated my collection of vinyl to CD's that I re-discovered this brilliant album, about 15 years ago. It is now never far from my stereo.
Speaking in an old fashioned way, the "a-side" (as it was on vinyl) is the one most people will listen to, it has the singles, from the galloping pounding "Running Up That Hill", through the sheer folky string quartet driven brilliance of "Cloudbusting" to the nicely upbeat "The Big Sky". But please try the old "b-side" - The Ninth Wave. A concept album within an album telling the story of a drowning woman, looking back through her ... Read More:

I have never been a particular Kate Bush fan................when I thought of her I thought whacky lady a few good songs over the years .Eccentric ..a bit of a one off.
Then I heard this Album
It is quite simply one of the biggest musical treats I have had for years.
Absolutely fantastic

Sounds like we have a consensus out there!
The Sensual World failed ( commercially ) to match the massive success of 'Hounds Of Love'. It's hard to know why. Maybe the time was right for that album - and who can deny that 'Running up that Hill' and 'Cloudbusting' are some of the finest singles ever. Maybe Kate just left it too long, as she often does, and the world had moved on.
The Sensual World succeeds as a great album however. It's cornerstone is undeniably 'This Woman's Work' which reliably brings tears to my eyes. I'm still not really sure what it's about - at one level Kate seems to be at the bedside of her dying mother, while on another the line 'I know you have a little life in you yet' could be about a mother to be. Genius.

It can safely be said that when this album was originally released nothing like it had ever been heard before. This was the time of punk, anarchy and bands full of anger and rage. Then along comes this sweet little English girl with her hippy looks and charming lyrics.'The Kick Inside' has got to be one of the most startling and brilliant debut albums ever.
'Wuthering Heights','The Man With The Child In His Eyes','Moving' and 'The Kick Inside' are just a few of the delights awaiting the listener as Kate wails and whoops her way into your heart. She is a very special talent and I think what I most admire about her is the fact that she has always done things her own way.If we have to wait years for her albums then that's just what we'll do because she is doing things in her own time. ... This is my fav Kate Bush Album :) I recently collected her back catalog and this is definately the one I like most :) its dark, dreamy, great lyrics and creative. I recommend this album highly, its great from start to finish, her voice and lyrics are flying high with energy and imagination. Some people say their not too keen on the Violin track, I like it for the reason that Kate sounds crazy and fun! you have to hear it, I think shes on a musical high or something? doesn't sound like an easy tune to sing? reminds me of a tune by ABBA in the way they hit all sorts of notes, high/low etc. The rest of the tunes are just great, catchy and often odd in a great way :) check out the track egypt! one of the darkest tracks, I really like the one called 'all we ever look for', Never for ever also ... Whilst this album is not as good as The Kick Inside - there is not many that are - it still retains the Bush magic! Some wonderful tracks and 'I leave it open' is worth the price of the ticket alone
Release Date September 12, 1994
Usually, an artist's second album represents an opportunity to learn from early mistakes while retaining some hunger. But Kate Bush's huge success with 'The Kick Inside' and that number one single left her in a similar position to Mike Oldfield when he debuted with 'Tubular bells'. How do you follow an album like that? Fortunately, Bush had class, dexterity and imagination in abundance from the start and 'Lionheart', while not as great, is a very impressive album. It doesn't possess the same diversity of style. So many of the tracks here are slow and reflective in nature. In particular, the songs, 'Fullhouse' and 'In The Warm Room' are good in their own right, but don't stand out after 'In Search Of Peter Pan' and 'Oh England My Lionheart'.
Nevertheless, there's plenty to get excited about. The vividly-expressed ... Read More:

I must admit initially that I was sceptical about buying this CD,(I have most of kate's CD's) but after reading reviews was not sure I would enjoy it. I thought what the heck I love the title and the picture so I bought it.
I played it constantly in my car CD and got to know the songs so well, that I now class this album as my favourite. Song of Solomon is a masterpiece, Lily another, Red shoes another and some of Kate's imagery being 'on top of the angel's shoulders' is just superb.
There are so many fantastic tracks on this CD I would highly recommend it. It seems so fresh that it hardly seems possible it was recorded 10 or so years ago.
I would agree with an earlier reviewer that you do have to listen to the CD for a few times but once you do there is no going back.

A lot of people are comparing the whole theatrical feature to "The Lord of the Ring". I don't personally think it is worth doing at all. I never got started with the books because Tolkien's prose was just too...middle-class for me. But I do admire how the work is an attempt to transpose Anglo-Saxon aural epic tradition to modern English. Sadly, the Anglo-Saxon kept strictly to poetry, and that's the part of the books that never could be rendered for a movie. The films, whilst fun, was a standard ogre-fantasy with complex plot and a dramatis personae that was never running too short. The soundtrack for those films had a Celtic aspiration. It was fantastic and really gave the films their own identity both distinct from and faithful to the books's Anglos-Saxon ambition.
Pullman's trilogy is also a fantasy but of ... Read More:
