I never write reviews, but as this album has received wildly differing opinions I thought I would add mine. I love it. It's got lots of energy and the lyrics are interesting without getting too abstract. She is nothing like anything else out there, Lily Allen included (although she is great too), so don't try to compartmentalise. Just enjoy it. It's my most listened to album of the last 12 months as I can identify with the moods instilled by these songs.

Foundations

When someone releases a first single thy send out a message, they let you know what they're like, give you a taste of what's to come.
With this offering Kate Nash is saying you either like me of hate me.
As you can tell by the very generous one star I fall into the latter and not the former.
Not I have great respect for artists wh0 try to sound different. Regina Spector, Tori Amos, Lily Allan (who people always draw parallels with Kate, I feel sorry for Lily in that case) Goldfrapp. But with Lil' ol' Katie you get someone who talks most of her song in an attempt to connect with the listener, telling us about how her and her beau are have trouble in their relationship. Pumpkin Soup

So, Kate Nash - the apparent star of 2007. She had her mega hit with Foundations but Pumpkin Soup and Mouthwash, despite recieving plentiful radio airplay have struggled in the charts. I will admit all three singles have been pretty catchy and pleasant enough but ultimately, the music is simple and the vocals really are little more than talking.

The cockney voice is amusing for a while but quickly becomes irritating and her persona herself is total rubbish, she comes across as a stuck-up wannabe trend-setter and comes across as a kooky little indie kid, all jokes and little talent. She can't even be 'bovered' to put an actual song as this single's b-side, instead opting for a rubbish poem.

Mouthwash

After seeing the interesting title you'd be forgiven for thinking that this song might be a little different, I bit left of centre, quirky, or at the very least about oral hygiene.
Instead we get a "song" by a girl who sounds bored singing it. There is no life in her voice through out the whole song, nothing to keep the listener's ear. Even the music sounds like it doesn't want to be part of the song. This single is as exciting as a Coldplay song and one best left alone.
