Enjoy taking the lift? Love a good long wait on hold? Find your toes tapping to the radio in the doctor's waiting room? Feel the urge to dance in the Cleaning Products and Binliners aisle in Morrisons? Then you'll love the insipid, soulless faux-jazz muzak of Kenny G.
Thinking about buying this (or any other) Kenny G record? I'll save you the effort; everything he's produced consists of irritatingly sharp pentatonic runs up and down, interrupted occasionally by a wavering, poorly-controlled long note followed by one of his half a dozen twiddly licks. Repeat until you feel the urge to vomit up your own lungs. This is a record of soul crushing dreariness, a reminder of just how suffocatingly vacuous some human beings are. 'Music' ... Read More:

Probably the most safe, boring instrumental music you will ever hear. Songs sound very similar i.e. not very exciting to say the very least. The music is appropriate for the following situations:
A) whilst holding the line
B) in a lift
C) in airport toilets
Well, you have to be cruel to be kind sometimes and unfortunately, I don't know what positives I can find with Kenny G's music. The most famous song, Songbird, is the least mindnumingly dull of the lot but still hardly the type of thing you'd CHOOSE to hear.
I often see this placed under the title of "jazz", which is quite a joke if you compare these songs with, say, anything else considered jazz.
I would imagine that listening to this constant drone more ... Read More:

Of Kenny G's CDs, or at least of the ones I have, this is a rather quiet and expressive set. Of course, it's geared for those who like Kenny G, and so is my review.
I don't think Kenny G is jazz. He's strictly easy listening or adult contemporary, although there are jazz embellishments here. This is a saxophonist expressing himself to those who choose to listen, and he creates an intimate atmosphere for his fans.
No, he's not one of the great versatile musicians, but he expresses and entertains those who are in the same flow that he is.
The only ones who mention his name in the same breath as Miles Davis and John Coltrane are his bashers. I haven't heard any Kenny G fan compare him with these jazz greats. ... Read More:

This is a great album. These are basically pop songs for soprano saxophone with a very polished 80's synth-pop style production, featuring executive production by Narada Michael Walden (Whitney Houston, ect). It's music for living, it has an optimistic glow from start to finish and is skillfully performed to perfection.

This isn't jazz, and Kenny G's no instrumental virtuoso. Up till now, he's been much the seducer, the wooer, appealing to the emotions of the listener. On this CD, he's more of a party guest enjoying himself with the other party goers.
The two duets are truer duets than those on previous CD's. The sax is singing with Chante Moore and with Brian McKnight rather than accompanying and enhancing their solos. Interesting effect, and especially with Chante Moore.
I've enjoyed his treatment of songs with a Spanish flavor, and his treatment of "Brazil" is indeed quite listenable.
None of his CDs are for serious jazz fans. They're aimed at mainstream audiences, and I see no fault for that.

Is this all Kenny G. can muster together, in over 3 - 4 years? I don't think so! I have always respected him when it comes to long-awaited CD release (which is usually about 3-5 years), I am thinking of his most excellent releases e.g Breathless... Moment...Songbird...Holiday (series) etc., and used to consider him as "a must buy" artist. But cannot really affirm this CD. Many are remakes of cover versions of a mix of known classics, only one or two tracks out 13 that I kind of grudgingly approve (appalling record to date by Kenny G). In my view, this is a classic case of "too many cooks spoils the broths.." syndrome. I'd expected more from this CD by Kenny G and his friends! It is a waste of money and effort to getting it from the USA!!! It is very disappointing ... Read More:
