There are different versions of these carols on different cds. This is one of the few collections, where you really get the best of the best. As the other reviewer said it's too good just for Christmas, such beauty in every carol, and the moment I hear them it lifts me, in a way no other music does. If you listen to any Christmas music this year, make sure it's these carols, because I assure you won't be disappointed with the quality, and the beauty of what's on offer. I have often listened to church music thinking to myself is it all manifested in the same place and released under different titles? However this selection 'hits the spot' with some great renditions of worshipful music and if you like to listen to part singing then cd 1 is excellent. There also some lovely descants some of which i had not heard before, an inspiring selection. Excellent.

Classic Christmas Carols

This album is made up of very good quality, and powerful, music. I cannot fault the performances, or the production for that matter.

The problem occurs, that if like me, your cd player is not remote controlled, then throughout the entire album you will be up and down up and down of your seat to ajust the volume (even during the same song, never mind for each one individually).

The above ^ will apply to all of you, unless you have no neighbours whatsoever within a mile or so of you and volume is no consideration.

I have never ever, in 30 years, known a music album with such a massive variance of volume level. Ever ! And that unfortunately, ruins the experience.

The Only Choral Album You'll Ever Need

whoever wrote the 'whats on this cd' blurb mislead me to buy this item - I needed the WHOLE of the Messiah AND THE WHOLE of Faure's Requiem and reading this blurb you think you have it - but guess what - there are only extracts - the titles given are just for the whole work - not the individual piece of music - so I cannot learn the pieces for two concerts I am performing in before Christmas off this - very misleading. Sorry - but it is not the only album Ill ever need.

My knowledge of classical music is not so advanced, but it is a breed of music you must learn to appreciate if you get what I mean. I am to keen to expand my knowledge of classical music, so buying this album is a great starting point. Classical music is a breed of music which existed long time ago and is really old fashioned, but a real pleasure to listen to. It is very much instrumental orientated. You can hear the piano, violin or the flute with their distinctive sounds in the background.

The Most Relaxing Classical Album in the World...Ever!

While there are some lovely pieces of music on these CDs they don't match the titles. When I bought this 2-set CD I thought that maybe I had received Vol2. or something by mistake as none of the tracks match the information on the CD insert. I decided to check by listening to the samples here on Amazon & discovered that they too are incorrect. Just to ensure I wasn't going mad I found the CD set on a US website and listened to their samples & they were correct!!! I wish someone could explain.
