At the risk of gushing, I want to talk about the CD in my player at the moment: Earth. A quite glorious album. What else can I say?
The quality is on another level. I hear the music and I think, "this is Good Looking?" No disrespect to Bukem and the guys, as glo always make music of the highest quality. It's just that this album sounds so different from anything that has come before. Fresh, bold new musical directions for the 21st century. Downtempo soul grooves, jazz, sultry vocals and sexy helpings of deep house all melt into the Earth dub pot of funk that flows smoothly and creamily through your auditory senses. Sounds so right, feels so good. One of the most beautiful albums I've had the pleasure of gracing in quite a while.

LTJ Bukem presents Producer 01

The problem here is that if you are a fan of Ltj Bukem and already own a few of his CD's, then you will probably own most of the tracks present.
That said every one of the is a Good Looking classic, intelligent drum and bass at its best. This compilation bares alot of resembelance to Logical Pregression 1so it's really more of the same. as i've mentioned though, every track is a corker and it would make a good introduction to the series or a stand alone album for someone who is not a huge fan.

It's a shame other reviewers who perhaps , like me, have experienced the halcyon days of Logical Progression from `95 onwards can't understand what is going on with Bukem's label, his playing style and his sound. It is understandable that are only a handful of tracks on this mix that are outstanding in terms of what defined this sound. Certainly, Conrad had a bit of an off night in Munich, and confusion reigns over some of his flows. However, relatively new artists like ICR and Catch 22 ARE doing some interesting things, particularly on other labels such as Covert Operations, and this album is more an opportunity for Bukem to showcase these guys as well as the more established members of the GLO fraternity, than to simply follow suit in what is ... Having been a keen follower of LTJ Bukem and the GLO label productions, I immediately bought Bukem's latest solo effort; Journey Inwards. It certainly is a journey inwards. This double CD is an atmospheric, intelligent and highly instrumental piece of work that draws upon many musical influences and sees LTJ Bukem feature a number of live instrumental performances. Moving away from the ambient jungle/drum & bass beats that he is more associated with and on to a more down tempo, progressive, 'Earth' type sound, Journey Inwards features live percussions, atmospheric backrounds, jazzy samples and yet retains that innate progressive element present in all of Bukem's work.
