I have the original disk which was only the first of the two records offered here. The cover photo is the same. I can't speak for the second disk, but the first one is the real deal. This is early 1970s, from the streets and in your face unclassifiable poetry-music. There was no rap in those days. No hip-hop. Inspired by Harlem lives and African drums, these poets were powered by the force of their intelligence and originality. Over thirty years later the work still has that power and originality: the sign of a classic. After this record, the group broke up, later reforming but without all of the original personnel. The later records never had the impact nor the quality, of this first one.
