Double Time

I haven't given it the full 5 stars because of one track in particular that enforces the use of the skip button on my stereo -Sheik of Araby.
The rest of the album is just exquisite. This is Redbone's finest album and, like the previous reviewer said, the song selection (apart from the one song) is spot on.
If you haven't heard him before and are thinking of buying into some of the most relaxing and melancholy music, then this is the place to start. If you don't like this, you don't like Leon Redbone.

Leon Redbone is condidered eccentric, even within the music industry, and entertains us yet again with his very distinctive gravelly, sometimes almost comotose voice.

This album magically conjures up a combination of relaxed 'summer days by the river' renditions of classical tracks, with exuberent foot tapping stomps and thought provoking lyrics.

No review, it seems, has been written about the recordings of Leon Redbone, which is a bit of a shame as this artist is a favourite of mine.
The very secretive Leon Redbone has released twelve studio albums to this day and his first, "On the Track", was released on LP by Warner Bros. in 1975. This album eventually reached Gold LP status.

Leon Redbone applies his skills to the interpretation of an eclectic blend of musical styles including old-timey jazz, ragtime, acoustic folk, blues and country standards, minstrel show tunes and radio ditties coming from a period broadly extending to the turn of the century to WWII. There is a definite nostalgic feel, which relates Redbone's music to a more relaxed period in American musical history. ... Read More:
