A great album gathering all the big hits.
Although some classic Commodores tracks are missing such as 'I Feel Sanctified'.
There is another Compilation with all of their funky tracks although these are only the short versions.
There should be a companion CD of long lost 12" and extended remixes.
Surely 'Nightshift' was released after Lionel Richie had left the Commodores, and so it has no place on one of his albums?

A previous reviewer made mention of the absence of 'Dancing on The Ceiling'. Didn't really notice it when you have old hits such as Hello, Penny Lover, Say You Say Me, Three Times a Lady and practically the rest of the album save 'Do It To Me', 'My Destiny' and Love Oh Love. The latter really turbo boosts an already rocket powered album.

Truly The Love Songs

These songs have a personal meaning to me! so therefore i find that they are all brilliant pieces of music and have a very romantic atmophere...fantastic to listen to cuddling up with your boyfriend by the fire!

To ensure continued enjoyment, NEVER expose yourself to the videos!
Worth having just for Steve Lukather's epic solo on 'Running with the Night' -apparently there are Heavy Rock fans who listen to this track.

I have heard of Lionel Richie and have heard a couple of his tracks...but when i went on holiday this year with my fella's parents they put this CD on non-stop and it is absolutley brilliant...each time i hear it now it reminds me of being on holiday!!

I am a huge Lionel fan. I have ever solo album that he has ever recorded so I was bound to buy this one as soon as it was released. I have always been a big admirer of his work and thought such classics like "Easy", "Hello" and "All night long" could never be beaten. Imagine my suprise when I discover this is the best album he has ever written, every song equally as soulful and imaginative as anything he has ever written you will be amazed by tracks such as "tender heart","how long" and my personal favourite "it maybe the water". This is an album that belongs in the archive of legendary music as there is a different track to capture each and every mood and emotion in the human soul. The Definitive Collection: Deluxe Edition/+DVD

Lionel Richie is in my top ten list of "Best Artists of All Times". I do have all his albums, which means I have all the songs on this collection here. No doubt, the best music you can find around and worth every cent, however, I have these songs and why not compile it in my MP3. I wont be buying it but if you like Lionel Richie and you do not own all his work, this collection will cover you and more. I have one complaint to make though; why isn't "Deep River Woman" on this album, this song is one of his best unreleased songs, I wonder ??

Coming Home

This album is definitely an album which for me changed Lionel Richie from an immense soul singer into an R'n'B icon. I think he shames some of the latest R'n'B stars and really sets a new target for other people to follow. This album is not just r'n'b there's also some songs that still show his soul roots and even some reggae chucked in. Lionel Richie is definitely one of the best Artists that has ever lived and this album shows it.

It's as if Lionel was finding his feet as a solo artist and perhaps should have waited artistically instead of releasing this as it stood. I found this slow and dull with nothing to lift the spirits really. Better was to come though.
