Whatever impressions you may have gotten from lead single 'Blind', its best to approach this album with an open mind (as with most things). Whilst Hercules & Love Affair do take their lead from disco music, the scope of the songs is much broader, embracing minimalistic techno and torch-balladry to creating a heady and eclectic tracklist. They might not always produce up-tempo, dance-floor friendly hits, but to criticise Hercules & Love Affair for such a thing would be unfair, not to mention small-minded.

If there is a fault with the album, it is in the sequencing. The penultimate tracks, 'This is My Love' and 'Raise Me Up' sound uninspired and formulaic in comparison to all that comes before, contributing to a distinct second half ... Read More:

I went clubbing for the first time in a long time the other week which at my advanced years is probably disgraceful . Putting that aside I found most of the music played that evening dreadfully dull and repetitive and had reached the stage where I never wanted to hear another thudding dance track as long as I drew breath .Then Blind by Hercules And Love Affair came on.
I hadn't heard it before but recognised Antony Hegarty,s voice straight away( I pointed this out to my mates who couldn't have been less interested if I had started talking about the trade deficit with China). It was by far the most interesting thing played all evening . A nice understated bubbling bass line , slightly jazzy arrangement , some cocky brass with the slightly retro disco feel and ... No Strings: Every Now and Then

I have a few collection album cds of The Love Affair hits and in the meantime, I do agree with Suleiman of Malaysia that the title album 'No Strings' were a bit low rated songs they produced in the past. Also their 4th. album, the single A & B, the recordings of the album was totally lousy compared with other albums like 'Everlasting Love Affair' New Day.
So far I have rated the best of the good times a 5 star recordings from Sony, but I have yet to rate the latest title called 'Super Hits' which were on the way to me soon.

By the way, what had happened to the song 'Wake me I am dreaming' I understand this song have'nt been release on cd yet. As this title is also my favorite, I hope Sony would release this particular title soon! Why not include ... Read More:

The Everlasting Love Affair

It's worth buying this C.D. for the wonderful: 'Day Without Love'...their best single,though less famous than their Number One hit :Everlasting Love',which is on this C.D. as well. Some of the songs don't really 'cut-it'...but they were really a singles group and the singles were really very,very good. I'd recommend this to anyone who digs British '60's pop.

Last Tango in Bradford is by no means Steve Ellis' last gig. Pure enjoyment. His voice never looses its amazing power, sensuality and all the feelings that lyrics command. All these years down the road and here is the best and most underrated singer this country (and beyond!) has ever produced still delivering big time. A must have.
