Lest We Forget: The Best Of

by: Marilyn Manson

Release Date September 27, 2004
I had never been a fan of Marilyn Manson and have always been dubious of 'greatest hits' albums, but when I bought this album - it changed my perception of both.
Mr Manson's rasping voice goes down extremely well with the heavy rock music. The collection of songs on the album have been well chosen and do just justice to his career to date. I have had this album in my car for the last 3 years and it is not likely to leave there any time soon. This is a definite one to purchase.

EAT ME, DRINK ME

by: Marilyn Manson

Release Date June 04, 2007
Midlife crisis?...OK maybe that's unfair. Heartbreak can happen at any age and although painful has been the inspiration and driving force of some of the most powerful music and art out there, some real classics - Unfortunately this isn't one of them.
'Eat me' is at an ill conceived, badly performed, badly recorded, dull yawn-fest of self indulgence bordering on the juvenile.
The persecution complex exhibited on this album is embarrassing from someone supposedly so intelligent.
Maybe Manson had to get all this out his system, but did he have to inflict it on us?

Holy Wood

by: Marilyn Manson

Release Date May 26, 2003
This is another great album by Manson, the first one I got was Lest We Forget though which is better but still it's amazing. Having had alot of the number ones on it on Lest We forget I thought I had the most of it but I was wrong. There were still awesome tracks on it like Coma Black The Death Song, Crucifiction in Space, Lamb of God and the bonus acoustic track of The Nobodies which was ok. Anyway listening to this album has become part of my daily routeen and if you are a Manson fan it is an essential. Anyway I would say buy it if you like the tracks you have heard so far on.

The Golden Age Of Grotesque

by: Marilyn Manson

Release Date May 12, 2003
Despite what people say I think this is a great album, probably his most commercial yes but still great. The guitar is very origional. Tim's style is awesome and although you get bored with this quickly I still really lik the hits on it and Spade, Use Your Fist And Not Your Mouth and several others although I recommend getting his other stuff first like on Lest We Forget you get a taster of alot of his albums. It's still essential but no Manson fan should give it less than 3 stars becuase I doubt anyone could do better even me. Genrally a good album though.

Antichrist Superstar

by: Marilyn Manson

Release Date May 26, 2003
Any serious critique of the history of Grand Guignol must
surely take the mind of Mr Manson into account.
1996' 'Antichrist Superstar' digs around in some very dark
places indeed and this from a man used to digging darkly.

Decay, madness, dissolution, gristle and blood and bone.
Polymorphous perversity by the bucket load.

And what jolly good fun it is too !

Mr Manson, both with his music and personae creates a healthy balance,
a veritable antidote, in holding up a mirror to the hypocritical,
slimy, white underbelly of New American Puritanism.

This splendid music has a coherence sometimes absent from his work
both pre and post 'Antichrist'. The neural assault is heartily ... Read More:

Mechanical Animals

by: Marilyn Manson

Release Date
How do you top the defining album of your career? The answer is, of course, that you don't. (Just ask Slayer.) Manson instead opted for a clever change of direction. Whereas Antichrist Superstar was loud, furious, and triumpantly atonal, Mechanical Animals sees MM reaching for the acoustic guitar and the chordbook and, incredibly, doing some more traditional songwriting. Which is not to say that this album is weak, or a sell-out, or ballady. It's still heavy as hell, it's just a bit more subtle in its approach.

This is a very different album from Antichrist Superstar (it's considerably less industrial, with more than a dash of Spiders From Mars-era Bowie thrown in) and you can see why some of the hardcore fans had problems with it, but the fact is that ... Read More:

Portrait Of An American Family

by: Marilyn Manson

Release Date May 26, 2003
First of all I would like to say if you are getting your first Marilyn Manson album then this isn't the one for you, I would recomend Lest We Forget with the bonus DVD. Make sure with the DVD but if you have that then this or White Trash is the one for you. It is Marilyn Manson and the Spooky Kid style but has some of my favourite tracks on it. Get Your Gunn is a classic metal style song, Dope Hat is very catchy and amzing aswell as Lunchbox. My Monkey is so whacky you have to love it and it also has tracks like Cyclpos and Cake and Sodomey, if thats how you spell them. I will admit that there alot of fillers but still for any true MM fan. I only borrowed this but it has still grown on me quickly. Buy it!

Smells Like Children

by: Marilyn Manson

Release Date March 20, 1999
I've brought alot of his other CD's and were really good but this one isn't as good as his other stuff. Alot of the tracks are remixes of good Portrait songs and rip them off. Sympathy for The Parents is a remix of an interview aswell. You can find it on youtube under Marilyn Manson on Phil something. I do like the remixes of Dope Hat and the hidden 16th track is alright. Also the covers are amazing. Not just Sweet Dreams which is ok but I put a Spell on You grows on you like Cryptochid on Antichrist Superstar. It is quite creepy and dark. My favourite track on there is definetly Rock `N` Roll Nigger which is loud and fast and gets me really hyper and would make a good classic. It is a little short though. The worst track is In The Hands Of Small Children which is just odd grunts ... Read More:

The Last Tour On Earth

by: Marilyn Manson

Release Date May 26, 2003
Like you I love Marilyn Manson, and contrary to the name of my review, I understand and even like the fact that his music, certainly his vocals, does involve some gutteral screaming.

He's a shock-rock star, so I don't expect him to be all gentle and pretty and lovey-dovey. But I could barely listen to my favourite songs such as 'Sweet Dreams' without hearing the bloody, pulsing, throbbing tidal wave of demented fans roaring "MANSON-MANSON-MANSON!!!" or "DRRRUUGGGS!" in the background. I like to listen to Marilyn Manson when hes actually singing...here, all the songs are overloaded with screaming, bellowing fans who can't control themselves, and of course the very pleasent opening words to songs like "I Don't Like the Drugs (But the Drugs Like Me)", which promoted all the ...
