No I didn't think it was possible either, AC/DC done acoustically - Mr Kozelek is a genius - not only does he do them justice he makes them his own, they still sound like AC/DC, but he could have written this selection of songs -they come across that well.
These songs may well have been written for, and with an electric guitar, but they work as well here - and that is testament to Kozelek.
I am a fan of both, and for them to be brought together in one package like this is amazing - I was sceptical - but I was convinced from the first strum.
If you like either Red House Painters, Kozelek on his own, or AC/DC - then buy it!!! - 30 minutes of classic rock, twisted RHP style, and it works so well.

If, like me, you were worried that this would be a raggle-taggle, odds-and-ends "for the fans" collection from Mark Kozelek then worry no more. "The Finally LP" is easily on a par with his other two covers albums "Tiny Cities" and "What's Next to the Moon", but unlike those two, benefits from not taking all of its material from one source. The first three tracks are all five star quality and sonically not a million miles away from the last studio album "April" (recorded as Sun Kil Moon). However the two real stand-outs are "Send in the Clowns" (imagine for yourself what you think an MK cover of "Send in the Clowns" would sound like and then, imagine it ten times better - and you're there) and "Bedtime Lullaby" (his most commercial track yet, though ... Along with "What's Next To The Moon," this album represents Kozelek's work as solo artist, after the demise of the wonderful Red House Painters period. For those people particularly in love with RHP's sound, this may be require a bit of an adjustment. This is a quiet outing, intimate and almost withdrawn. This, by itself, should not be a big surprise since RHP, even when they rocked, maintained a thoughful and melancholy tone. Once you accept that there's plenty to welcome, as much in his own compositions as in the chosen covers. To start with the latter, I must say that Denver's tune, "Around And Around" is probably the best non-Kozelek song in this album. The AC-DC versions are good but better covers can be found in his other aforementioned ... Read More:

Although this album has summits and dips, overall one cannot help but admire Kosolek's intimate performances. The album dips a bit towards the end, with a tired performance of Shadows, and some half-hearted a capella versions of Dragonflies and Things Mean A Lot, although the (almost) acapella version of Three Legged Cat (he bangs his guitar a few times), is poignant, and the unlisted extra track is very moving and powerful, and an excellent addition to the Koselek canon - whatever it may be called. The other high points of the album are the acoustic version of Cruiser, which is indeed far superior to the leaden album version, a pretty rendition of Kosolek's touching ode to his cat, Wop-A-Din-Din, again preferable to the album version, a song called Admiral ...
