Sentimental Me

This is a top album if you like jazz standards and like Marti Pello.
If you hate jazz and only like the Wets, which is fair enough, then you may not enjoy it so much.

The arrangements of theses songs are sutle, thoughtful and evocative.

Marti Pello's voice is great, and he conveys the mood of the songs brilliantly.

The songs gathered in this album are really good songs, although some are quite sad. "You Must Believe In Spring" is the most moving song I have ever heard.

I think this album is good.

Moonlight Over Memphis

A great SOUL album and more essential than anything that we laughingly call R&B coming from the US these days...The Willie Mitchell stamp is all over this, but the killer for me is "It's All About". This is straight from the Philadelphia International heyday and owes more to Thom Bell / Gamble & Huff than anything. Worth every penny. Soulful voice plus real soul music = essential purchase.

Between the Covers

I really like the music from Wet Wet Wet and Marti Pellow and this album has some very good songs: "Follow you follow me", "A lot of love", "Fire and rain" and "Brass in pocket" are great songs while the other ones are a little too dull! So Marti should release more stuff of his own which is to my mind simply great (like "Smile"!)
But 4 Stars are okay for this album!

Smile

Was a big wet wet wet fan myself and own every album from band and now his solo ones as well. From the first track to the last track it is a very strong album without any below par songs on it that let the album down.
Most albums on one listen you find 1 track that really grabs you and that will normally always be your favourite 1 forever , on this album however i guess like most who own it your opinion on the best track will change often today its "this moment is ok". next month it could be any of the other's thats how good this album is.
fantastic voice excellent songs robbie williams the current uk no 1 could only dream about sounding this good

Smile

I liked Marti Pellow in Wet Wet Wet but didn't expect this album to be anywhere near his past music after seeing him on tv. I was very pleasantly surprised when I first heard this cd. The very first track on this album was excellent and the following tracks matched it. His voice has remained strong. This is the type of album that can be enjoyed listening to in the bath or out driving. I wouldn't hesitite to recomend this album to anyone. Marti Pellow deserves full credit for this one!

The music feels a little weak but it allows Marti's voice to shine through, probably why it was chosen as his first solo attempt, to show those who may have doubted that he still had it after all his up's and down's that he most definitely has still got it. Welcome back Marti.
