I have to say, I am most unimpressed. I heard a great punk cover of 'My favorite things' from 'Sound of Music' and sought it. I was in a tattoo parlour and he just told me 'find it'. So I searched and searched, hassled him again and he still won't tell me. The closest thing on itunes or anywhere else was this. This is not punk. This is some kind of nu-metal-crappy-ultra-compressed-with harmonies-excuse for punk that I hear far too much of thes days, and it really ought to be called pop. This is for kids. It is an insult to punk. The version I heard was very raw, one guitar without the layers, real drums, chugging bass and hurled vocals - with more punch than a speedball, it sounded like it was recorded by a Ramones alter-ego, on a shiny ... This album is just brilliant! Being a big fan of Me First for a long time I have long awaited this new release and I wasn't disapointed! It is great! There are some ace covers to songs such as "I believe I can fly" adn "End of the Road". My personal favourite is the cover of "nothing compares". If you like punk or want a good introduction to it then this album is a must have. And any fans of Me First should not hesitate to get this album as in my opinion, it is their best!!

Just recently i was working on a production line in a factory assembling Apple computers - your usual crappy dropout job, you know the kind. About once every four people, they had a speaker suspended from the scaffolding that lies about ten feet over ones head, all over the factory. So all day we'd listen to the radio, and more often than not, to the oldies stations. Man, there's so many songs you forget about, like "Pretty in Pink" or "Is She Really Going Out With Him". My favorite (probably by virtue of their not playing it every day like everything else) was Billy Joel's "The Longest Time". I'm a sucker for harmonies, and anything vaguely Doo-Wop sends me into fricken convulsions, that, married with Joel's songwriting skills, make this tune an all ... Read More:

Me first and the gimme gimmes are the best punk cover band in the world. This album is particualy good in my opinion - they've managed to get just the right amounts of all different styles of music and put them together as something well worth listening to again and again.
Unlike many other cover bands the gimme gimmes songs don't all sound the same and all the songs are recognisable. The best song on this album is by far 'will you still love me tomorrow' other great ones are 'stand by your man' 'wild world' and 'who put the bomp' but they are all classic songs made much much better.
buy it now and also buy the 'Ruin Jonny's Bar Mitzvah' album - live from a Bar Mitzvah and the 'are a drag' album featuring popular showtunes such as 'somewhere ... Read More:

Some excellent covers, with the Gimmes as usual making songs their own, as only they seem to be able to convingly do. Not quite up to the five star Blowin in the wind or Take a break due to one or two slightly ropey tracks, namely uptown girl and leaving on a jetplane, but even they are still better than most bands doing covers, Otherwise superb punky fun
Release Date October 16, 2006
When I first heard this album I thought that it was quite weak compared to previous Gimme releases. However, after a few more listens it really grew on me and is now probably my favourite Gimme album.
Although a lot of the songs aren't instantly recognizable each one becomes more catchy with every listen. This album is definitely worthy of your collection. Highlights include Goodbye Earl, Jolene and Much Too Young.
