I was never a fan of the Spice Girls, but there was always something about this girl that drew me in. She's fierce, fiery and she's got lots of attitude and spunk. Her role in the Spice Girls was obviously stylized, but that doesn't really matter, since it obviously worked. "Hot", her first solo album is not as great as its lead single "I Want You Back", which is a delicious slice of mystic r'n'b. Missy E. wrote the song for Melanie, and it suits her so perfectly, so I can't help but feel somewhat disappointed by the rest of the album. Melanie is a decent singer along the lines of Grace Jones and Janet Jackson, and she's certainly got the fire and drive of Grace Jones, but her music lacks the same rhythmic glory.

What would music be without the Spice Girls? You tell me! Not only did they completely blow the music industry with countless number one smash hits, now they all start over each on their own and still bring the house down!

This third solo effort from Mel B commands a whole new Spicy dimension - RnB, later explored by Victoria Beckham with songs like "Not Such An Innocent Girl" and "I Wish". Those who thought that Melanie B was not going to do well on her own can now sit back and enjoy this very beautiful, well-written song.

The two remixes are interesting, with track #2 sounding quite like a jungle remix, with the rythm slower than the original version. Track #3 is a true rap, RnB remix, truly Mel B-ish...

"Tell Me" is a massive hit, one of Melanie's best up to date! I did not like her album that much, but boy, does she have it for the singles! All good...

The producer of this song is Darkchild. Therefore, you know what you get, right here... Nothing really new, but he always delivers the goods, and he sure did not miss out with Mel B here. Neither did she, because she proves here that she handles singing solo very well. I would say that out of all her singles, "Tell Me" is probably the one that depicts her personality best.

The two remixes are good and typically Melanie B, one dance remix and the other one is more RnB, urban-style with rap.
