If Melt-Banana were food, they would no doubt be the tastiest, hottest fiery curry you had ever eaten.
It's only after you finish listening to this album that it sinks in.
Some would tag the band as sheer noise or untalented or "Inaccessable" is the current vogue term.
Not so, it's a matter of personal preference, I find many artists too bland for my ears to put up with.If that is also you, then this album is one you should hear. Twisted riffs and multi channel effects galore courtesy of Agata , solid bass playing from Rikka whilst Yako does her thing. Great great great!!!
Long may they be fruitful.

Yow! For what is barely 25 minutes, this here album manages to come into your world and detonate it with a billion billion sticks of TNT, and always with a big damn smile; then it finishes, and you want more, more, MORE! Still, theres only so much the world can take. 'Teeny Shiny' has to be, along with Godspeed You Black Emperor's '..Antennas to Heaven', the most incredible, astonishing combination of sounds released in 2000, somehow surpassing the genius of 'Charlie' with an equally frenetic but surprisingly varied set of tracks, going from stop-start rhythmic shenanigans on 'Bright Splat' to the insanely catchy almost-pop 'Moon Flavor' via jaw-dropping blasts of sonic doom, particularly 'First Contact to Planet Q'. Damn, its good. Beyond ... Read More:

"This is everything that is wrong with the music industry". If you prefer to be told what to buy by NME magazine, then the quote is highly applicable. Personally, I love this album to death. It was the first of theirs I got and went on to get more. All hail drugged up rodents.

From the moment the first track 'Just GRUB AND RUN' grinds to a halt after just 40 odd seconds, you know exactly how this album is going to pan out. with crushing inevitability, the same song is repeated about another 14 times, before progressing onto a 'studio section (recorded onto 4 track rather than DAT), and then its basicly the same song over and over. what lets this album tower over virtualy every other release this decade (including other melt banana albums) is the fact that melt banana have writain the greatest song of all time. with 'singer' yasuko barking in squeeky broken english over a mine-field of seemingly improvised guitar, drum and bass, melt banana will apeal to fans of j-pop, art punk, no-wave glitch techno and basicly any sound that ... This album will scarc you. It'll make you cry. If you like Avril Lavigne, Good Charlotte or anything else that is commercial, fake and rubbish, you will not like this. But this album, is incredibly original and has a "fu*ck you" attitude without being ignorant and stupid. The piercing vocals, sliding guitars and throbbing bass make this album a total head fu*k. It may take you time to listen to it, I had to turn it off after the first few tracks, as I couldn't take anymore! And if that's what music can do, wooo! buy this album. see them live. ROCK!

A fine combination of cute but hyper vocals, breakneck speed drums, bass that hurts and sci fi crazy guitar effects that makes Tom Morello look so inferior. Melt Banana manage to hold their audience with totally heavy music but not dark or evil music. This is bouncy, happy and wacky. The best tracks are 'Cannot', 'Section Eight' and 'Spathic', not to mention the token noise track 'Area 877', featuring the zany vocals of Mr Bungle.
I saw Melt Banana last year, and I've never seen a band hold the attention of the entire crowd for an hour.
It'll be hard to find such an interesting and original punk band as adrenaline soaked as this one.

It seems that every record this group does is different to the last in most ways. It's amazing to listen to songs that you think you've learned played ever-so-slightly-different (not so much as to change it past recognition, but enough to make you think "that's not how it's supposed to go). But the whole point is that the songs, while remaining the same are kept fresh, so that no-matter how many CD's you have with the same song on it, it's never QUITE the same. This American tour CD seems more... American than normal. And at first the little US stylings made me feel like the group was losing it's appeal. But it grows on you very quickly, and the version of spathetic on this CD is to die for (as is the cover of Surfing USA). Loud, and not for those ... Read More:

Melt banana are pretty much your average band. Unlike the Boredoms, who are just weird, Melt Banana create a unique sound combining hardcore elements with cartoonesque noises, which tend to come from squeeky voice frontgirl Yako, who likes to yelp and scream whenever possible, or guitarist agata, who's killer riffs are pushed into overdrive, and when that's not happening, he's making shrill noises with his axe. This is definitely an album worth having if you're looking for something a little bit different, but be warned, it's intense, it's freaked out, and it sure is heavy.
