The Christmas Sessions

If this was a football match then the score would probably be 4-2 to MercyMe vs. traditional Christmas songs.

By that I mean some don't work, but most are great reworkings, very true to the MercyMe sound. God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen is a standout with great orchestration and choir - and no, there is nothing church-like or reverent about either.

I can't imagine anyone buying this who has not already got at least one MercyMe CD so the sound will be familiar, but it is a bit of a shock to hear it applied to such well known and well worn classics as Silent Night.

But it works. This is first and foremost a MercyMe album; it just happens that the tunes are Christmas themed.

Spoken For

I recently discovered Mercy Me's wonderful debut CD. I loved it so much I was anxious to get my hands on this one. I'm very pleased to report it's just as wonderful as the first.

The first single released to radio and best song on here is "Word of God Speak." While it was not as big as "I Can Only Imagine" was for their last project, I find it more powerful. It's a quiet prayer to be filled with God and His word.

This song is the first of three songs in a row that I just love. They completely change moods with the much more upbeat "Your Glory Goes On." Then they do a new version of one of my favorite hymns, "The Love of God."

While these songs may come late in the disc, that doesn't mean the earlier tracks aren't ... Read More:

I recently discovered Mercy Me's wonderful debut CD. I loved it so much I was anxious to get my hands on this one. I'm very pleased to report it's just as wonderful as the first.

Undone

This album certainly lives up to the standard of their last album 'spoken for': great music, great lyrics with both in mind they certainly bring you closer to God. If your new to this band then I would recommend this album, blending their worship/rock style I can garentee something/someone -->GOD!!, will click into your mind while you listen to the heart felt lyrics and music that will bring an emotion of 'glory to the risen king!'. This is not an album to be accused of 'just another bad pop/rock band' but instead 'blessed music and musicians with hearts for God'. Almost There

This is another one of those CD's I keep buying extra copies of to give away! It is an utterly moving and joyful experience on the ear and heart.

These guys obviously have a huge love of their God and of giving Him praise in song. Their lyrics are punchy, honest and blend fantastically well with their melodic rock style.

From the strength and gentler paced songs "How great is your love" and "Fall down" to the passion of "On my way to You" (which contains the wonderful line "teach me to think like You think") and the sheer celebration of "Call to worship" and "In You", this is an album that just makes you want to sing. All That Is Within Me [Us Import]

When Mercy Me exploded on the Christian music scene, they quickly became known for their rock/pop worship. This new release is another winner sure to please their multitude of fans.

Artists often put challenge songs near the end, but Mercy Me opens up with a great challenge. "Goodbye Ordinary" calls for Christians to live extraordinary lives because there is so much more to life. It's a solid pop/rock opener.

But if you are looking for worship, look no further then the next track. The rockier "Time Has Come" is a call to worship God. It's a fun track that captures the message of Mercy Me.

At the time of typing I have only had this album one day, yet wonder if I have already played it to death! Though the sound is different (I agree with the previous reviewer on the U2-ness of the sound... there's also a little bit of Jack Johnson in the mix!), mercyme are as honest as ever with their lyrics. As with all their stuff, it's encouraging, inspiring and challenging. "Bring the Rain" is particularly special, "3:42 am (Writer's Block)" just so true and, well, I could go one and on but I don't want to spoil it! Instead, I would deeply encourage anyone thinking of buying this album to do so... you will definitely be blessed!
