Dark [Us Import]

by: Metal Church

Release Date December 23, 1999
This was the first album of there's i purchased and it's not been surpassed yet by them.
It was recorded back in 1986 the real prime time for thrash bands as i was growing up.A band that's never been as big as the 'Big 4',namely Metallica,Anthrax,Slayer and last butt not least Megadeth, but in the early days these guys were bigger than Metallica and had Metallica support them for a while. So why didn't they make it? Who knows but if you are wondering about Metal Church this is the album to buy.
It starts off with the thundering'Ton Of Bricks'(strangely there is a synthetic drum sound to kick things off which was quite outstanding for it's time) it's heavy and groovy thrashy and very well produced,a great crisp sound, the ... Read More:

This Present Wasteland

by: Metal Church

Release Date September 22, 2008
I'm absolutely staggered at how bad this album is. I'm a long time Metal Church fan and while the late, great David Wayne will always be the voice of Metal Church, Mike Howe's contribution to the band should never be understated.

At first, I wasn't keen on Ronny's vocals on "Weight Of The World" or "Light In The Dark" but both albums grew on me. I admit to hovering my hand over our household' 'Church collection and playing "The Dark" or "Human Factor" but would occasionally go for the Ronny albums. However, I cannot see this album getting much play at all. The band seem to be at odds with themselves, the album sounds forced and to be straight, Ronny sounds out of his depth here. The sound is flat and monotone, Vanderhoof is ... Read More:

I had heard so much about this album, in a positive way, so I was very disappointed when I heard it. The first two songs are OK, although I'm not a fan of the singer. The rest I don't care for. And the last song, the cover of Deep Purple's classic "Highway star", is dreadful.

Blessing in [Us Import]

by: Metal Church

Release Date December 23, 1999
How can you follow 'The Dark'? Well it was there job to do it and they did a fine job. There is a fuzzier production which is a bit of a shame as you tend to lose parts of songs in the very muddy mix which is a far cry from the dark's crisp clean production.
The band have evolved or matured alot and have penned some very catchy tunes, the new Vocalist Mike Howe is superb, less screamy than Wayne and more of a texas twang and much more pleasing to the ears,he adds an extra dimension to the church,it sold well and i have the cherry lane guitar book for this album to prove it.
It starts off with 'Fake Healer',a very catchy song about the medical practises of America, proper headbanging stuff and it sticks in your head next up is 'Rest ... Read More:

The Human Factor

by: Metal Church

Release Date July 28, 2008
I've had this since about 1990 on tape, and it still sounds as good as it ever did. Everything from speed metal to the heaviest riffs, with twin guitars slugging it out and lyrics that avoid the usual 80's/90's rock cliches.
Absolutley awesome, I'm glad its coming out on cd-I'll be buying it!

Hanging in the Balance

by: Metal Church

Release Date December 15, 1998
I didn't like 'The Human Factor' so was glad when this came out,if you liked 'Blessing In Disguise' you will definatley like this too.
It has much better production, this time alot clearer which helps with carrying the songs.
I feel they had lost their thrashy roots and kind of went a bit like Metallica's 'Load' only before them anmd doing it far far better,if you like 'Load' and 'Re-Load' and Corrosion of Conformity you will probably like this too.
There's some great riffing going on and some great tunes such as 'The Gods Of Second chance','Losers In The Game','Waiting For a Saviour','Down To The River' it makes this a worthwhile purchase,if you get the digi-pack you get some bonus live tracks, one of the churches 3 best ... Read More:

Light in the Dark

by: Metal Church

Release Date June 19, 2006
It would have been easy to write Metal Church off after original vocalist David Wayne left after the first two classic albums "Metal Church" and "The Dark". With guitarist and founder member Kurt Vanderhoof taking more of a backseat role with the next three Mike Howe fronted albums, Metal Church seemed to be a name only. While fans of the early works were elated at David Wayne's return for "Masterpeace", the album was a weak attempt to relive former glories. After Wayne left again, it seemed to be all but over.

Metal Church never give up though and after recruiting the powerful lungs of Ronny Munroe, the future started to look bright. Unfortunately, the "Weight of the World" album tried too hard, the music was right on the nose but the vocals ... Read More:
