This is a brilliant album from one of the most talented rhythm and blues jazzy soulful singers ever. He sings each song with so much feeling that I get chills every time I listen to his music.

This album gives us his duets "Yah Mo B There" with the wonderful James Ingram, "Ever Changing Times" with Aretha Franklin and the heart rending "On My Own" with Patti Labelle as well as the superb solo's "No Looking Back", "Sweet Freedom" and "I Keep Forgettin".

Of course the Best of Michael McDonald would have to include his hits from the Doobie Brothers especially "Takin' It to the Streets" my personal favourite.

Buy this if you're a fan of cool soulful sophisticated music you'll not be disappointed.

Sweet Freedom: the Best of Michael Mcdonald

I have owned this album since around 1990. It first came out in 86. And I think I've bought it at least 3 times in various formats. It is simply a brilliant selection of the hits of Michael McDonald. The man with the most amazing voice.

All of the tracks are superb, but my favourites are the simply beautiful love song that is "Our Love", the duet ballad "On My Own" with Patti Labelle and the superb "I Keep Forgettin".

Its just a brilliant album that should be a must for all listeners that like great songs sung by a uniquely brilliant voice.

Soul Speak

i think of great soul records as being full of edge and excitement with record production that lifts the artist to heart bursting emotion.

here however michael mcdonald ,one of THE great blue-eyed soul singers, is given a soft bed to lay on and he's almost suffocated by the feathers.

soft guitars,soft drums,soft focus everything.even with the great songs he has chosen to cover they rarely raise the temperature beyond mundane and cozy.

i wish he'd released an accompanying CD with just him at the piano pouring all that unadulterated emotion his beautiful voice undoubtedly has into these songs.

it's a snooze-a-thon folks.

Motown Vol.1 & 2: Limited Edition

Just to reccomand other people this double compilation, which includes a lot of famous songs end 70'beginning 80', ther performer is really great, Micheal Mc Donald voice it seems to keep these songs alive, even the one's older than 20 year, but you do not realise that!! He si great, and this kind of music is always appreciate expecially if you have friends at dinner, it is easy listening music and you'll never change this cd when it is over!

There was a time when RHINO - the great American reissue label of the last few three decades - could be relied upon to deliver the goods - always - but not anymore. For years now Rhino has had exclusivity on the entire WEA back catalogue and have been reissuing superbly remastered goodies to beat the band right across the labels incredible board of genres. But for several reissues now (ZZ Top, Zeppelin, The Smiths) - I've noticed a certain sloppiness beginning to creep in - but this - and every other title in this rubbish series - takes the biscuit.

This 2008 reissue is on Rhino's "Flashback" label which given their reputation gives the impression that it's new or even improved - it isn't. The CD arrives shrink-wrapped with it's sticker ... Read More:

Take It to Heart

If you are a Michael McDonald fan this has got to be one of his best, it is soulful and he has a vast capacity in his voice to reach all the right notes.My particular favorites are "Take it to heart" and "no amount of reason", but "love can break your heart" and "Searchin for understanding" are equally as good. There isnt a bad track on this album just pure and delightful Michael McDonald who never seems to miss a note.I enjoy this album blarring in my car or equally when we are at home chilling. The words are very meaningful and I would think it has been written from the heart. Buy with confidence.

I was extremely thrilled when i found this 2 disc collection of Petula Clark's greatest hits and rarities. Petula is a lovely singer and a woman who has had so many hit records. It's a class Petula CD set --- "DownTown", "Don't Sleep In The Some Way" are just a couple of the songs icluded on this CD set. There are some prev unreleased gems, new songs are remixes as well, all in all a great variety of Pet music. It is been put together wonderfully with a booklet featuring an interview with the great woman herself. This collection most truely is THE Ultimate Petula Clark.
