Once again, Michael has lifted us to the throne room to deliver praise. And he still does a great job of it.

Like the previous two, this CD is a recording of a live worship event that Michael led. There are two differences from the previous releases. There are no studio tracks, here. More importantly, Michael wrote about half the song on here. A few originally appeared on his last couple of studio releases, but they fit right in here.

Of the familiar songs, I really am thrilled to get "Mighty to Save" a song I learned this summer. And I can't get enough copies of "Amazing Grace (My Chains are Gone)." Michael has arranged the classic hymn "I Surrender All" to switch from English to Spanish, which is kind of cool. ... Read More:

It's a Wonderful Christmas

Michael W. Smith has released two previous Christmas CDs, and they are staples of my December. This new release will be taking an honored place beside them in my December rotation.

This release is a combination of his two previous releases. It mixes the choral feeling of the first one with the pop of the second one. And, as something new, he mixes in lots of instrumental pieces. 5 of the 11 songs are fully instrumental. But the orchestra sounds wonderful.

What is truly amazing is that this release sounds Christmassy from start to finish from the very first listen. Only one track, "What Child is This" is a traditional piece. Michael wrote or co-wrote everything else. Yet everything feels like an old familiar friend. ... Read More:

I Must admit to have fallen in love with this set, Michael W Smith is a brilliant artist and his worship is brilliant, every song is sung from the heart, the crowd are so into it, and its all for the glory of God!
simply amazing, and I Watched the DVD and its so awesome to see not only the passion from the Band, but the crowd, Lost in worship praising god, Stunning,very moving,very powerful, but full of Joy, a wonderful experince, Ive played this over and over, and Just now bought another Copy to give to a friend for christmas!
remember Jesus is the reason for the Season, and keep CHRIST in christmas!

Christmas

This CD was a real departure for Michael W. Smith. Released right after his i2(eye) CD, it was a complete style change - from 80's pop/rock to a choral sound. I must admit at first I was really disappointed, but the CD has grown on me until it's become one of my favorites.

This CD sounds more like a choral album then an artist driven solo project. In fact, Michael doesn't even have all the solos. The music is full orchestra for a Christmas pageant feel. There are very few traditional carols on here, except in instrumental form. As a result, it takes several listens before it sounds remotely Christmassy. I'll Lead You Home

Michael W Smith never stays in one musical place for too long. And with "I'll Lead You Home" he again shifts direction. True enough, the 14 tracks contain those trade-mark melodies and choruses that keep you humming for days, but this album gives them a more stripped down setting.
