Let's Face It

I have almost all the discography of the bosstones and I feel that Let's face it is their best.
It shows their diverse range from Pure unadulterated ska to hardcore metal in one album.
For bigger metal fans try "Jackknife to a swan" as well,
For bigger Hardcore fans try "question the answers" or "Skacore, the devil and more".

In conclusion, if you only ever buy one bosstones' album, get this one.

Question the Answers

This is one of the best albums from the Bosstones, and one of the best of the 90's. All the songs have a hard edge, but are made smooth by the horns. Dicky Barretts voice is like no other.
I think this an all time classic for my generation.

More Noise and other Disturbances is a very bosstones sounding album in that certain songs sound like a defining song, sort of in a way that if you were to think of the band, for one reason or another, that these songs would pop into ur head in a way that songs from Don't know how to party wouldn't. I don't know how to describe Bosstones brand of Skacore because it doesn't sound like any other ska/punk band even though they are instrumentally the same.
Back to the relevant album, I don't feel there are any tracks that are of better quality than others but ones that are less highly ranked. I think that What's at stake, guns and the young and bad in plaid are the least likeable, What's at stake is a cover that doesnt stand up in this collection ... Read More:

Don't Know How to Party

This album may not be instantly accessible but after a few plays the songs become like old friends. I change the CD in my car frequently but this one seems to last longer than any other and I'm not sure that I can put my finger on why.

'Someday I suppose' is one of the Bosstones' finest and would make any CD worth buying, but after a few spins you realise that there are other real Bosstone anthems on here: 'Illegal Left', Holy Smoke', 'Tin Soldiers', 'Anything Goes' and the title track are examples of The Mighty Mighty Bosstones as their very best and most typical. It really is sublime stuff.

If you are not a fan of the World's greatest band I'd probably advise you to go for a more commercial Bosstones album but if you're ... Read More:

Pay Attention

I just bought this the other day and WOW! It's the best album I've heard for a long long time with no weak tracks in it at all. From the moment 'Let me be' starts to the end of the superbly moving 'the day he didn't die' ends, I garantee you'll love every second of it. It's probably not a good album to start listening to them though, if you've never heard them before, try 'Let's face it'. Then buy this, and you can agree with me!

A Jackknife to a Swan

This is a fantastic offering of ska-punk that will take some beating. Every little trumpet/trombone riff every chord and every lyric sounds just right. Ever listened to a track and thought wouldn.t it be good if the song did this..? it happens repeatedly on this cd and invariably the bosstones hit that note you were thinking of. jackknife to a swan is a great opener and deserved title track. everybodys better is a mellower track, but the best songs are probably old school off the bright, go big (so SO catchy) and chasing the sun away. all excellent really a band worth checking out if you dont know them yet.
