whoever wrote the 'whats on this cd' blurb mislead me to buy this item - I needed the WHOLE of the Messiah AND THE WHOLE of Faure's Requiem and reading this blurb you think you have it - but guess what - there are only extracts - the titles given are just for the whole work - not the individual piece of music - so I cannot learn the pieces for two concerts I am performing in before Christmas off this - very misleading. Sorry - but it is not the only album Ill ever need.

powerfully rythmic and crunching. This was very influential stuff. I agree there are some weaker songs on here, but it doesn't matter, its still fantastic. It sounds more normal now, but at the time,,,

1989 was a good year for metal. Carcass' sublime "Symphonies Of Sickness", Godflesh's inspirational "Streetcleaner", and Nine Inch Nails' debut, "Pretty Hate Machine", were all released in that year. Also in 1989, Ministry released this absolutely brilliant album. I remember first hearing this album in 1994 and sounding impressed, but whilst much 90s metal has not survived the test of time, this album has. It sounds even better than when I first heard it. "Thieves" is just one of those songs you have to play in your car when driving at full speed. Excellent samples from "Full Metal Jacket" too. "Burning Inside" is probably the album's highlight. The other seven tracks are also of a high standard. Excellent, a hugely underrated album.

And finally, after 26 years, 22 albums, countless aliases as Lard, Revolting Cocks, Pailhead, 1000 Homo Djs, PTP, Ministry bow out with "Cover Up", their very own tribute album to the songs of their past. Built around the current, fluid, ever changing lineup and with an amassed army of guest vocalists, "Cover Up" is either the last gasp of a commercially bankrupt band squeezing life from a corpse with sound alike copy cat l versions - an obscure Industrial Metal Version of a record by the winners of a reality TV show, lacking in any vision or personality - or it's a enjoyable romp through ancient classics by The Rolling Stones, T Rex, Golden Earring, Deep Purple, ZZ Top and so forth, all lovingly Ministry-ized as the band romp around playfully during ... This is the album that changed rock and industrial forever. When did Front 242, Skinny Puppy etc start using guitars? After hearing this album. My personal highlight is 'Deity', which is the most perfect tune ever! This is where dance music wishes it was now, not to mention what it has trying to do for years. 'Stigmata', 'The Land of Rape and Honey', need I go on? Watch 'In Case You Didn't Feel Like Showing Up', listen to the tracks from this CD played on that video and see if you can deny the impact of this album on the world. Devestating!

"I don't care what someone does until it affects their work. When the work suffers, then it's fair game." - Harry Knowles
First you've got it, then you've lost it. And you don't know quite where you lost it, but there's some nagging feeling that you left it far behind, and you don't know where, so you can't go back and pick it up.
You remember when you used to sell a whole bunch of records and were the posterboy for the obscure industrial kids who hungaround in black t-shirts at college. Well, if you hadn't spent most of your adult life whacked up to the nines on crack, or smack, or whateverthehell it is you buy with your dwindling royalties you might remember it. But it's all a bit of a blur now.

There'd been a certain amount of quiet expectation about this album as a spiritual successor to 'Psalm 69'. In the same way that album was led by anger at George Bush senior's war in Iraq, so this album was led by his son's crusade. The sad fact of it is that the lead track of this album ("No W" - No Dubya, a follow up to Psalm 69's "NWO" - New World Order) is probably the weakest track of the album. It samples heavily from 'Carmina Burana' (used much more successfully by Apoptygma Bezerk on 'Love never Dies'), and the listener gets the feeling that Al put so much effort into creating a worthy successor to his undeniably classic NWO that he tried too hard and it didn't pay off. That's a shame, because the rest of the album *is* a worthy successor to Psalm ... Read More:

The review used as the description for this album is nonsense. To use "plodding" and "death-metal sound" in the same sentance shows beyond doubt the reviewer doesn't know the field they're attempting to comment on (in case you were wondering, reviewer, what you should have said was "doom-metal sound").
Then you've got the reviews who say "music critics suck". No, you just don't agree with what you've read about this album. That's not the same thing. That's like saying "movies suck" when you see a bad one. If they'd all said what a great album this was you wouldn't be saying that. Truth be told you wouldn't be saying anything about them at all because saying music critics rock is like saying the police in your town do a good job. Nobody ever says that, ... Read More:
