This is the one that got me hooked on roots reggae back in the early eighties. I don't know if it helped me think for myself, in fact the lyrics are mostly religious, which I'm not sure doesn't represent something of a contradiction. Thing is it's rammed with the sort of music that makes the message meaningful, even to a heathen like me. It's worth getting for the intro and the opening bars of Mankind alone, and the energy is relentless throughout. John Peel regularly, and deservedly, put this in his list of favourite records. Misty did some good studio work, but this is on a whole other level.
