Monty Python Sings

by: Monty Python

Release Date December 11, 1989
Guaranteed to get you smiling regardless of the circumstances and the chances are you'll be singing one of these songs to yourself for hours after listening to it. A good range of moods in the songs but full of superb jokes and showcasing some genuine comedic and musical talent.

Worth noting that the more risque songs are included in their entirety so may be an idea to avoid playing it in front of your elderly grandparents or in the background at children's parties.

Matching Tie and Handkerchief

by: Monty Python

Release Date September 04, 2006
The fourth Monty Python album is again drawn mainly from the first three series of `Monty Python's Flying Circus' which is quite fortunate as the fourth series was abridged in both been titled `Monty Python' and also the absence of John Cleese. A lot of the material is not from the TV series and has been written specifically for the album adding to the original sketches in allot of cases.

The greatest sketch on the album is possibly `The Australian Philosophers' from the second series which has been improved by the addition of `Bruce's Song' which gives it a great finale. Another favourite would be the Cheese Shop Sketch from the third series of the Circus. Two sketches of suit perfection that I cannot believe that they didn't make it ... Read More:

Live at Drury Lane

by: Monty Python

Release Date September 04, 2006
These days all successful TV comedy troupes take their comedy on a theatre tour almost immediately, however Monty Python were the first to do this and certainly the most successful, they eventually played at the Hollywood Bowl. This recording finds them at The Theatre Royal, Drury Lane, one of London's most famous theatres.

Graham Chapman, John Cleese, Terry Gilliam, Eric Idle, Terry ones and Michael Palin are joined by Carol Cleveland whom also featured in the TV show and Neil Innes of the Bonzo Dog Doo-dah Band with a musical interlude.

The performance is a kind of Monty Python's Best of featuring such brilliant sketches as `Nudge, Nudge', `Travel Agent', `Bruces', `the Lumberjack Song' and `the Parrot Sketch'. Also performed ... Read More:

Another Monty Python Record

by: Monty Python

Release Date September 04, 2006
`Another Monty Python Record' is exactly what it says on the tin, another Monty Python record following on from `Monty Python's Flying Circus' drawing material from the second series of the TV show. No one not expecting the Spanish inquisition would feel truly at home with this album.

With signing to Charisma records, home of Genesis in the seventies, The Python's moved slightly away from just creating new links between the soundtrack of the TV show to re-recording the sketches to make it suit the media better and using the technology to further their humour. The best example of this would be the closing of the Piranha Brothers piece with a gangster apologising as the record appears to be stuck `Sorry squire I've scratched the record' repeated ... Monty Python's Previous Record

by: Monty Python

Release Date September 04, 2006
Monty Python's third album carries on in the same vein as the second with the Spanish inquisition being replaced by Highway Man, Dennis Moore, whom was notorious for the theft of lupins.

The material is mainly drawn from the third series of `Monty Python's Flying Circus' with highlights being the song and dance number from the `Money Programme', `Eric the Half a Bee' and the argument sketch. By this time the teams writing was at the height of there powers and I think this is the greatest of all the Python albums, the `How to Do Programme' being a perfect piece of parody with children's TV presenters well and truly nailed.

Worth buying just to hear a massage from the Swedish Prime Minister.

The Final Rip Off

by: Monty Python

Release Date November 30, 1987
Yes this is a compilation of already well known material, and any Monty Python fan will know this stuff backwards already. But it's good material. It's funny. And it stands up to repeated listening, which is no mean feat when it comes to comedy. Some of the sketches feel a little bit like they're trying to bang a square peg into a round hole (e.g. 'Bells') but they are in the minority. Most of this album sounds effortless. Interspersed with some songs and some clips from the soundtrack of The Holy Grail, the sketches on this CD stand up for what they are: well written, hilarious, absurd and thought-provoking. And one or two of the "classic" sketches have been given new twists here and there, so it's not like you're listening to something that is word for word what ... Read More:

Monty Python's Contractual Obligation Album

by: Monty Python

Release Date September 04, 2006
Admittedly, not all the tracks are equally hillarious, but it's the same with MP's (Monthy Python's) TV series and films... This album works as an album;
the track with Palin's "Bishop" doing a dumb radio commercial is brilliant, John Cleese is usually wonderfull as a rabid advertiser and the song... Well, let me tell you there are some quit funny, zany (and sometimes not quite politically correct, God bless them!) songs here -
"I like Chinese", "Never be rude to an Arab", "Medical Love Song", "Finland", "I'm so worried"...
