Release Date February 04, 2008
Suave and well-produced, but due partly to a slightly lower standard of songwriting and partly to a motley assortment of vocalists, it never quite reaches the level of Big Calm. For Morcheeba fans only.
Release Date July 12, 1999
Although the criticism that this is dinner party music seems fair on first inspection, this album boasts some truly fantastic lyrics and vocals that put trip hop bands like Massive Attack in the shade. "Part of the Process" is melancholy and uplifting at the same time, "Over and Over" is one of the sweetest short tracks I have ever heard, while "Diggin' A Watery Grave" proves that music doesn't always need lyrics to be affective. Atmospheric, sad, funny in places, and ultimately beautiful, it combines electronica, reggae, hip hop, pop, and classical music into a seamless and truly unique mixture. It is only 'dinner party music' if you don't actually listen to it.
Release Date June 30, 2003
A fine collection of Morcheeba's best work from all their albums. One of the best albums to chill out to, perfect album for a hot summers day.
Release Date December 05, 2005
Morcheeba albums are like little nuggets of gold amongst a sea of silver and iron. This particular collection contains so many rousing and moving tracks and is an excellent introduction to a band who sounds as if they write from the soul. An energetic mix of good, clever and songs that can make you smile and cry!
Release Date July 12, 1999
A dark debut that is both memorable and stylish. The trip-hop feel sounds dated now but this was an accomplished debut with a rack of strong songs - "Tape Loop", "Trigger Hippie" and "Never An Easy Way" being the strongest examples.
An interesting set of sounds and musical landscape supports Skye Edwards' smooth vocals.
Release Date July 10, 2000
All the edge had been broken off the groove of Morcheeba by the time of this disappointing third album.
"Rome Wasn't Build In A Day" served as inconsequential lead single and the rest of the album is lightweight.
"World Looking In" starts promisingly by morphs into a stodgy peice of blandness.
The rest of the album is forgettable. The title track is a pale, anaemic relation to the title track of "Big Calm."
A startling underacheivement.
Release Date May 09, 2005
Let's be honest, some of Morcheeba's albums since Big Calm have not exactly hit the sweet spot. The Antidote is, however, well worth a listen.
This is both definitely a Morcheeba album, and also definitely something else - an engaging 'big sounding' fusion of Big Calm and late 60's, early 70's 'sing along pop' - think of Tony Christie in a blender with Air, with a big twist of Kosheen.
To be honest - if you like Kosheen you'll like this, and vice-versa!
Daisy is not Skye - not better, not worse, just different - and it's easy to feel that, given the opportunity, she could rip out some powerful lead vocals. So, enjoy the new sound and direction, and relish that bands like Morcheeba still explore the soundscapes ... Read More:

the best morcheeba album of all...well of all both of them. the opening is a little disappointing, but by Shoulder Holster, they proove again why we fell for them in the first place. the rap(ish) songs are a little tedious after a while, with possibly the exception of Big Calm, which is really starting to grow on me. my favourite is fear and love, which i wish would go on forever. best listened to in a darkish room, post-club, with a bottle of jack daniels, 5 friends and a big comfy sofa. or on your own in a room. whatever
Release Date July 01, 2002
Album number four for Morcheeba.
A stylish effort with far more class to it than the coffee-table blandness of its predecessor.
Stand-out track is "What New York Couples Fight About" featuring the wonderful Kurt Wagner of Lambchop. Wagner adds his delicate vocals to this tune which unfolds very well. "Way Beyond Our Means" is charming and "Sao Paolo" is a nice track which adds a touch of class to proceedings.
Elsewhere the usual sweet yet inconsequential sounds prevail.
A step in the right direction for Morcheeba. A slight return to form.
Release Date December 15, 2003
Skye's vocals are good but not as amazing as the first album (Who can you trust), they are not as afective. There is also some more mixing which is quite good. But by coparing it to to their latest album Fragments of freedom you can see they are loseing the plot. It is a good intoduction into trip hop which is deffinatly worht it if you like mellow music.
