i like many had not over heard of roisin esp since her moloko days!! her first solo album i have and had not heard off when i purchased this album but im defo gonna get it! this album is without doubt the BEST album that i have bought in the past 12 months!! Roisin is so underrated and deserves to have pop superstardom unlike some of the trash that we see daily on tv and in reviews!
for anyone thats unsure about the album, go for it!! i can honestly say that you will not be dissapointed!

The Warriors Code

Very quickly you can find yourself with more than just a space problem; just how do you listen to it all? And what's really worth listening to again and again? Not to mention archiving it all alphabetically if you ever want to find your favourites again. Or does it simply come down to choosing from the ever-growing pile of discs that seems to live on top of your Hi-fi. Choose well when you buy the new stuff, and maybe you won't resent the time spent organizing your collection quite so much.

The Meanest of Times

OK, so before someone comments this let's get something out of the way - The Dropkick Murphys are from Boston USA and not Ireland. That out of the way, let's get to the review.
This may well be the strongest album that DKM have produced, if not then it's certainly on par with Blackout and The Warriors Code so if you liked those albums go right ahead and order this because - bar an increased harshness in some of the lyrics - this is that very same stuff and just as enjoyable.
For those of you new to the band they've got a couple of tracks posted on their myspace page so if you want to hear some full-length tracks pop over there and take a look, it's a pretty representative sample of their stuff.

Blackout

Having bought the DKM live album and 'Sing Loud, Sing Proud', this was initially a bit of a disappointment. Whereas 'Sing Loud...' had been a frenzied speed'n'Guinness-in-the-union-hall type affair, 'Blackout' focuses less on the intense punk ethos and more on the 'traditional' Irish folk spirit - slightly sentimental and a lot less political and, well, less in yer face. That said, once you get your head round it, it's a rewarding album and has every bit of passion and emotion you'd expect from the DKMs. Produced more as a rock album than a punk album, the singalong choruses and the against-the-odds combative tone are still intact but come across with more emotional range and depth than the raw intensity ... I have only recently discovered this band, after hearing Shipping up to Boston on the Departed film soundtrack. I am now hooked! They are brilliant, the music just grows on you. I especially like The Torch off this album but the rest are good too. Buy it if you are looking for something a bit different.
