Just check out the clean guzzling bass line on Muscle Museum. The song sets up the perfect suburbian distopia and turns into nothing short of the perfect pop rock single when Matt's voice melts into a suspended guitar solo.
Elsewhere theres the title track Showbiz, an epic of enclosing tension and Cave a similar epic flooding with teenage anxt.
The back end of this record reveals more wonderfully rounded heavy yet alternative rock songs. The lyrics are spot on all the way through especially in Escape and Overdue.
Theres a lush little acoustic ballad too in Unintended, so good they still sing it on tour.
This is where Muse started off, with a CD just as good as all the others, sure the songs ... Read More:

The band's most erratic release to date and their weakest to date. Some songs are brilliant (Bea, Dragonhead, Mania) but overall, the album is uneven and can't decide what kind of album it wants to be and so opts for different angles but most of the songs just aren't particularly great.

Are you a Muse Fan? If you're thinking of buying this album then you are either a Muse fanatic already, or you will be very soon, and if you haven't heard any of these songs already then I envy you - you are in for one crazy audio thrill-ride.
What's so great about this album is it's originality - it takes our usual idea of what rock music is and turns it on its head, electrocutes it, sticks it in a blender and then stuffs it down your throat, much to your masochistic glee. The music is dark, vicious and incredibly addictive, and by the time you've heard Bliss, with its ethereal arpeggios and super high voltage riffs, you will be hooked to the end. It's super badass.
Pretty much every song is unbelievable in its own right. Muse pull no stops ... Read More:

House Tornado was the strongest release of the early part of Throwing Muses career- advancing on the brilliant eponymous debut. As with the CD-version of The Pixies Surfer Rosa, this cd issue comes with a bonus mini-LP- in the form of The Fat Skier.
Tanya Donelly is advancing as a songwriter here- River is as good as the brilliant Green from the debut & her other track Giant sounds like the Go Betweens playing a Belly song. Kristin Hersh dominates for the most part- Juno, Colder, Drive, Mexican Woman & Walking in the Dark as good as it gets. This is an album to get lost in- & was not topped by the following releases, which contained some great songs- but were more commercial (see Hunkpapa, The Real Ramona). The Fat Skier bonus tracks are as ... Read More:

Their heaviest album to date which means you won't find any Bright Yellow Guns, Firepiles or even Ruthie's Knockings amongst this bunch but it's still a pleaser. Half Blast is the main attraction here and Tanya on backing vocals, even for 5 of the songs is very welcome.
Release Date September 14, 1998
The best Throwing Muses record ever. Its tense instability (and an intimidating Kristin Hersh giving the impression she'll explode any second in fury) and saddening naivety make this an unforgettable listen.

Tanya Donelly's departure really did leave a hole in the Throwing Muses albums from thereon but they were still worth getting excited about even if it meant no Tanya songs. Red Heaven won't hit you immediately but on repeated listenings, everything unravels and what you have is a rock album swivelling with a lot of songs running on pure spite and of course, the tint of surrealness (Carnival Wig).

I got this t-shirt on their tour at Wembley Arena, i have not seen this t-shirt anywhere and is always sold out on the official website! Its great design not only looks cool but is rare! The logo also is hard wearing so no need to fear of it peeling when washed!
