Yes, this is not a carbon copy of 'XX,' and yes, they have a new singer. However, it still has that Mushroomhead sound and is by no means a departure, listen to it right after 'X111,' and you'll see its the logical progression.
For fans, there still are the fast heavy numbers, 'Tattoo,' is as Mushroomhead as it gets, and 'Burn,' is heavy and bouncy.
They have a more obvious industrial influence this time around, but never overbearing-ly so, and any electronics will give way to raw band composition and live performance, eg. 'Erase the Doubt.'
This is a grower, and maybee you'll have to get used to Waylon... but this is a great rocking record. Loads of faith no more atmosphere, Pantera brake downs, and brilliant vocal patterns. ... Read More:

released in 2001,XX is a compilation of the bands first three albums that are nigh on impossible to get so this is a greatest hits of such but also represents mushroomheads first international release.
The band are hard to define as hey mix metal with punk, hip hop at times, industrial and alternative metal, they were compared to slipknot as they wore masks but the truth is that mushroomhead were around before slipknot and they dont really sound like iowas finest.XX is an album that is unpredictable but yet never loses focus, album opener before i die is stunning, taking the listener on a journey to insanity and then back, the dual vocals compliment each other perfectly, they both bring different levels of intensity and kookiness at the same time, bwomp ... I received this through Amazon on Wednesday, and have listened to little else since; I cannot recommend this enough. Some songs are heavy, brutal, industrial, others (such as 'one more day' and the 'sun doesn't rise') have a melody to them that will raise goose-bumps on your arms, I promise you. This CD is an absolute masterpiece.
All of this excludes the track 'Thirteen'; beautiful, eiree, spooky (those 'laughing baby' samples.... oh my!), and then, after about five minutes, it launches into a kick-ass cover of Seal's 'Crazy', which beats the original by a mile (and I'm a big Seal fan). Listen to the whole 'Thirteen' track on your own, with all of the lights out, for maximum, spooky effect...
