In common with one of its reviewers I bought the Cello Concerto CD only to discover that the other work on the disc was even better. Now I have acquired the Piano Concerto No. 2. Good though it undoubtedly is, for me the real find is the Harpsichord Concerto. Rather than describe it I'll leave it to be discovered. Try to imagine what the work will sound like, then find out it's even better - an utter delight. Buy it without hesitation!

Sanctuary

Having just returned from the USA and more precisely the Grand Canyon area, I found this album speaks volumes to me of the wonderous and spiritual nature of the place still fresh in my thoughts. R. Carlos Nakai certainly has the knowledge and great talents necessary to be able to convey this in his music. Anyone wishing to find music of a calming and theraputic nature where they can loose themselves in medatation and thought where ever they are, could do far worse than to listen to this album. This will be by no means the last album of his that I will be purchasing in the future.

In a Distant Place

The sweet sounds eminating from Nakais and Nawangs continently contrasting and culturally differing origins combine brilliantly with the unusual stringed sounds and percussions of Eaton and Clipman. The flutes, sometimes birdlike in sound, float together as if Tibetan and Native American cultures were from the same place. This music is different - it can be played as a relaxing media for yoga etc or as a perfect background for any activity. The instruments are played with an intense skill and the changing moods between the tracks keep you interested through out. This was a new music for me, one which at first I wouldn't have associated with, but now I will be looking forward to hearing the many other titles recorded by the players.
