Neil was a prolific songwriter who had many hits via other people's recordings, beginning with Stupid Cupid (Connie Francis). He also had his share of hits with his own recordings. These came in two distinct phases - the early sixties and the mid-seventies. This compilation focuses on his early sixties music.

Neil was hugely successful on both sides of the Atlantic in the early sixties. In America, thirteen of his singles made the top forty, with many of them going much higher. This is a superb snapshot of many of his greatest songs. However should have been a double cd as many great songs were not able to all fit on a single cd. Modern up to date versions (1991) do justice to his old 50's and 60's classics. Worth buying.

This album should be given a proper,full release and be available at a realistic price to a wider audience.

At the time of release,in 1973,Neil Sedaka was starting to break through again in the UK.This album was a major step forward for him in terms of maturity and style.Recorded at Strwaberry Studios in Manchester with 10c.c. in support it is full of top tunes and mature lyrics.Best of the bunch are 'Let Daddy Know','Other Side of Me'& 'Alone in New York in the Rain' but all tracks are of a very high standard.

This album was not released in this format in the USA but the songs assisted in bringing him to the attention of Elton John and the rest is history.
