This certainly has to be one of my best albums of 2007. Believe me this ain't really the sort of music I listen to, especially coming from an Industrial/Neofolk/Ambiant background, however this album is a real exception in mainstream music, with some outstanding contributions from Timbaland, who I was introduced to from this album. Definatley 5 stars and a real misfit in my collection where it sits amongst the likes of Death in June and Throbbing Gristle.

Whoa Nelly [UK Edition]

I listen to this cd when I want to hear something that's light,lively and beautifully sung.It has the added bonus of sounding original too.
All the tracks are good.I don't know what style of music they represent
or where she gets her inspiration from but she sounds like someone having fun while she's singing.Great stuff.

All the songs on Folklore sound original.I expect just about anyone to think that "island of wonder" is a really good song in terms of the music and smooth vocals.When I first heard this album I thought it wasn't that good but it is really - it 's just very different to Whoa! Nelly! which is the only other Nelly Furtado cd I've heard.I read a reviewer saying that he thinks Shakira is batty and that's what makes her so good.But Nelly is definitely pottier than Shakira - when she sings a song you feel as though she's been possessed by the muses instead of inspired by them - I haven't heard anyone sing as instinctively as Nelly does.She hasn't got the world's best singing voice on Folklore ( many of her vocals on Whoa! Nelly Furtado - Loose Live [2007]

I must admit I'd never heard of Nelly Furtado when she popped up on my TV screen, live in 2007 for the Diana concert at Wembley Stadium, UK. I was so impressed with the 3 songs she did there. It was amazing. I bought this Loose live DVD on the basis of that Wembley performance. You can tell it's the same tour, with most of the same dancers, musicians, musical arrangements, etc. But the Toronto show on the DVD is simply not as good, in my opinion, at least not for those 3 songs. But as the DVD includes many more songs, it's still definitely worth buying. Why don't I think the DVD is as good? Maneater

When I first heard this song I through it was good. But after a download and a through listen it becomes boring and very annoying. The tune isn't catchy, the back music is ridicules. To add insult to injury Nelly Furtado can't sing that well. Madonna or Kyle Minouge world have sung it better and made it listen able. In other worlds, it sucks.

"Promiscuous" (Feat. Timbaland Radio Edit) carries the same beats many are familiar with which includes the high bass-lines, dance vibes, and excellent club sounds.
