The first I heard these tunes were when Nickelback supported Bon Jovi on a concert - completely blew me away. I actually thought the energy and songs almost out done the main show. The album is very energetic from the moment go. Some ballads like Photograph, Far Away and Savin' Me are great and slows the the pace a little, but the vocals are powerful and keeps the listener glued.
The album is great and a superb follow-up to their last album. I really can't wait to see them live, I will recommend you do the same, start buy listening to this album. Awsome.

Silver Side Up

"Silver Side Up" is an impressive rock album full of powerful, heavyish but very catchy rock songs. Melody and power are not always something that are captured together on rock albums but Nickelback have managed it on this to great effect. You are launched into this wonderful world with the gorgeous opening track "Never Again" and the album just does not let up, delivering one storming song after another. The combination of pace, power and enjoyment in a studio album is rare - extremely impressive!!

This DVD collection is brilliant. If you're a fan of the band or just curious. Its a great place to see all their videos from the popular - How you remind me - to the not so well known - If everyone cared. Great DVD.

The State

First off, The State is the second best album by Nickelback(slightly inferior to Curb). Worthy to say is definitely the best song here, I've tried but find it difficult to find comparisons for this song.
Not Leavin' Yet is great and can be compared to Where do I hide. Cowboy Hat also is a great song musically and lyrically, perhaps the best lyrically. (no comparisons have been found.) Leader of Men is the biggest hit and reminds me a great deal of Nirvana's Come as you are.
There is no one clear comparison for the state though perhaps the best is The Long Road

With Nickelback in the charts at the moment with their number 3 single Rockstar, many people that like rock will have heard of them. However, the album- The long road is completely different, the first track, Flat on the floor is extremely fast paced and much more intense than some of their later singles (How you remind me and Rockstar).

This album is more heavy rock and grunge than other things in the charts at the moment. This is great if you would like rock to take over the charts once again. Warning! This is not a ¡¥feel good¡¦ album- it contains subjects of dark matter. E.g.

All the Right Reasons: Special Edition/+DVD

This is my first foray into Nickelback, on recommendation from my son. The more I listen to this album, the more I like it, and having the DVD was a real bonus - the videos really bring the tracks alive.
There isn't a bad track on the album, they are all good, but I probably listen to Photograph and Rockstar the most.
Nickelback really know how to work a crowd, and show great appreciation of their fans (unlike some bands). Their music has a real 'feelgood' factor to it, and they sing about things that you can easily relate to.
The main thing is - it's FUN. Play it with friends or on your own, but play it LOUD!
Definitely recommended, whether you're 18 (like my son) or 50 (like me). This is one of the very few albums that I can play with him ... Read More:

Nickelback - The Lowdown

This is a great 2 disc set [not just one as it says above] - packaged in a jumbo slipcase, with a poster and booklets -- it features a range of brilliant interviews with Nickelback and a second disc which is like a talking book telling the Nickelback story - which is also interspersed with further interviews. Nice little set to keep rabid fans like me satrisfied til some new material from the band appears.

This is a must-have for any Nickelback fans who have been disappointed with their latest 'All the Right Reasons' but love the other stuff. It takes the band back to their roots and uncovers a different side of their musical abilities.

I bought this album having already owned Silver Side Up and Long Road for a while. It surprised me at first - it is hugely different to anything else they've done, with a raw, grungey sound and vocals that sound like Chad didn't really know what he was doing. The songs seemed rather disjointed and improvised at first, but after a few listens I saw the intricate quality of the album.
