This is a very enjoyable film - well acted, great scenery etc - but what makes it really memorable is the music. Rather like the combination of John Barry and Mozart made the "Out of Africa" soundtrack unforgettable, so Nigel Hess's arrangements and Josh Bell's violin makes this special. If you think you already know your favourite top ten classical pieces, listen to the finale (after Paganini) and be prepared to think again!

A chameleon changes to suit it's environment and thats exactly what Nigel Hess' music does! All his music suits what he writes it for, and is amazingly high quality every time.

If you listen to the likes of Dangerfield and Wycliffe you can see that Hess has mastered that particular genre of solo instrument heavily pitched against the orchestra. But in truth that's not all he can do. Just William is so supremely different to that, but it still maintains it's great quality.

This collection is something to cheer you up on a rainy day...with it's wide variety of types everyone can find something they like.

My mum bought me this as she thought it would calm my screaming tiny baby. Can't say that it worked straight off, however I reached for it again when I was looking for something to signal "sleeping time" when I had to remove the mobile from his cot. Sick to the back teeth of "Twinkle Twinkle Little Star" after 8 months, this was a good alternative - plus you don't have to pop back to wind up a CD...

I prefer disc 1 to disc 2, but my son seems not to care! It just gives him clear notice that it is bedtime, and nothing more exciting than milk and a book or 6, followed by sleep, is coming. The Food of Love

This is an excellent CD. Those that have heard Nigel Hess's music will know what to expect - creative, programmatic music that is beautifully orchestrated. For those that have not heard Hess before you are in for a real treat. There is plenty of variety - some orchestral, some vocal, some period pieces, some contemporary. My personal favourite is the fantasia on Christmas Carols - not the usual hardy perennials, but music from the time of Dickens! Just fabulous.
