After Tarja's departure, this is a new Era for Nightwish.
Although a very different sound to Tarja's voice, new vocalist Annette Olsen does a very good job.
Less Operatic and not trying to impersonate Tarja at all is a good thing. (Don't get me wrong, I loved Tarja!)
Tuomas finally sounds like he's got where he wants to be musically, even if that's ment he's had to part ways with Tarja to get there. I think she was holding him back.
My only fear is that now Nightwish will blend into the 'Female Metal' scene too much, they use to stand out.
They had something different.
Loads of great tracks. Those that stand out are The Poet and the Pendulum, Cadence of Her Last Breath, Master Passion ... Read More:

Well you know when you read reviews off some album, and the reviews are raving about the album then you buy and when you listen you think "What's so great about it?", well this album lives up to that hype. Every song on this album is amazing and with vocalist Tarja and her amazing opera vocals it's just so much better and makes it more epic and beautiful and heavy at the same time. The guitarist is excellent playing some awesome heavy riffs, and brilliant solos. The drumming is great aswell. Best tracks for me are Dark Chest Of Wonders, Wish I Had An Angel, Nemo & Creek Mary's Blood.
If you're looking for an album that's heavy yet melodic with Opera vocals and has an epic feel to it? Then this is a great buy for you.

I was blown away the first time I heard this band, and now months later, after delving into the genre in a big way, I've yet to hear better.Nightwish are a Finnish 5-piece with standard rock line-up except they use an operatic soprano as lead vocalist.First released in 1998 this is exceptionally powerful and colourful music. The soprano vocals may take a little getting used to (I've been raised on classic rock) but Tarja sounds absolutely wonderful on the big ballads (one of which is a great version of "Walking in the Air")On some of the more metal-type numbers I can't help wishing from time to time that Ronnie James Dio or Glenn Hughes was singing that material. In other words she has a beautiful big voice but I'm not always convinced it suits the music.Where ... This is one of Nightwish's most Classic albums.
The music is stunning and the vocals are so haunting.
Nearly every track is a stand out one.
Bless the Child, End of All Hope, Dead to the World, Ever Dream, Slaying the Dreamer, Ocean Soul and, of course, the Phantom of the Opera which is better than any of the orignal Andrew Lloyd Webber stage show performances.
This album is so full of energy, and a must for any Nightwish Fan, Old or New.

This is a brilliant DVD.
This is of Nightwish's last tour with Tarja. It's actually the bands last gig together, and although the band knew this, Tarja, of course, did not.
As soon as the gig ended, the band handed Tarja a letter asking her to leave.
You can see in Tuomas' face that something is wrong, but he, and the rest of the band, really are playing as if it's their last gig together.
The energy is fantastic.
A great set list, and a guest apperance from John Two Hawks.
It always makes me a little sad to watch this knowing Tarja was leaving.
The documentary is very good and the band really let you in. It's pretty long!
You can really tell things aren't right with the band and i think it's very brave ... Read More:

Wishmaster is the third album released by Nightwish and is the most power metal sounding album they have done as there are more keyboard and guitar leads in this outing than in any other. On this album Tarja's vocals would be at their most operatic high for the last time as for their next album Century Child she would tone down a little bit. The lyrical theme of this album is based very mush in fantasy like most power metal but a lot of the songs are sad, whereas a lot of power metal songs are happy and give the listener a sense of hope. This is quite a sorrowful album but still a nice listen.

Nightwish are a band that was formed in the year of 1996 whilst Tuomas was sitting around a camp fire with his friends. At the time the band consisted of Tuomas, Emppu and Tarja. At the time they were supposed to be an acoustic band but because of Tarja's strong voice this idea had to be altered and metal elements were brought in to create music that would not be over powered by her strong operatic voice. Tuomas at the time said it sounded weird and the music couldn't exist in the acoustic form. Because of these needed changes and the metal elements that needed to be added Nightwish needed a drummer, this is when Jukka joined the band and the acoustic guitars were mainly changed to electric. It is also worth noting that at this point the band didn't have a bassist therefore guitarist ... Read More:

This is a must buy of every fan of this legendary group. Could not stop listening to these songs when I got this, especially Bye Bye Beautiful, which I think is one of the greatest songs of Nightwish, totally addictive. The other songs are also great, and if you only could add The Islander to them, you would have a selection that would keep you listening for hours. Great stuff indeed, and looking forward to more great songs like these. Nightwish keep putting great lyrics, and music together to give something good for every fan. However, I think the lead female singer's voice is a bit of a let down in some songs, not as strong or clear as Tarja.

I love Nightwish. I have been a fan since I first bought "Wishmaster", my first album by the Finnish metal band. I was completely blown away by the combination of Tarja's operatic voice with power metal. I was addicted right away. That was three years ago, almost four I think. I finally got the opportunity to see the band perform live in late August. One of the highlights for me was their cover of Gary Moore's "Over the Hills and Far Away". The song was very catchy yet aggressive. Tarja sounded absolutely amazing during the song. Unfortunately the album with that song is only available as an import. After doing some comparison shopping, I finally bought the cd "Over the Hills and Far Away". Now I can listen to the song as often as I want to. The other previously unreleased songs "10th Man Down" and ... Read More:
