I thoroughly enjoyed the first Space Odyssey album. "Embrace the Galaxy", but somehow let "The Astral Episode" pass me by. The debut was a glistening power metal album that indicated a bright future for Majesty and Time Requiem man, Richard Andersson.

And so it has proved to be with this rampagingly good record. The one thing that Andersson never forgets is the need to base everything around a good song, and there are some splendid examples of his melodic sensibilities here. Take a listen to 'Obsession' and tell me it's not one of the songs of the year.

And there's plenty more where that came from as Andersson conducts his metal symphony to majestic heights. Of its kind, this is as good as it gets.
