The Phantom of the Opera

I own the film soundtrack and this original cast recording version. I've seen the show 4 times now and this CD brings back the memories; the Overture does give you goose bumps and from this recording you get the flavour of the theatre experience.

When sung well, as they are in this case, 'Music of the Night' and 'All I Ask of You' are very moving. Sarah Brightman is the star of the original show as her voice is truly moving. I've always been skeptical about Michael Crawford, although his signing is excellent, I don't think brings the true gravitas of the character of the Phantom all that well.
I do like his interpretation of 'Music of the Night' though.

never ever liked abba 30 years on i still can't stand them now this ******* film has regurgatated their dire music once again ..mamma mia!!!!! i would nt give it any star ratings but it was the only way to move on mamma mia!!!!

Les Miserables

If you've got to this page, then chances are you've heard of Les Miserables and if you're a wise person indeed then you will have gone to see it in London or on Broadway. This CD is the original cast recording and has excellent vocal work from household names Colm Wilkinson, Michael Ball and rather bizarrely Caroline Quentin of Men Behaving Badly fame.

This CD however is no replacement for seeing the musical live - it misses out pieces of linking material. This means that if you are listening to this as a substitute for seeing the musical, you may become confused by the jumpy plot. Hairspray

Hairspray the musical is based on the excellent original film, but the music is even better. The soundtrack is a joy to listem to from start to finish. The first song on the soundtrack is "Good Morning Baltimore" a very upbeat number that leaves you wanting more, as the CD goes on it just gets better and better ending on a high with "You can't stop the beat". My favourite song is "I can hear the Bells" where Tracy declares her undying love for Link.

The CD has all sorts on it, sad, happy, funny songs but they all have the 1960's feel to it, making you wish you were part of that era.

We Will Rock You

I purchased this after returning from a show, which I have seen a couple of times.
Its quite a disapointment its not the same, some of the singers are poorer than in the show today.
Its a memory jogger and I have made my own mix on CD by using original songs in the order of the show, NOW THAT ROCKS.

Zorro

This CD is amazing.I saw the show in August and loved it and the CD is just so wonderful.The passion and vitality of the music is all there.Matt Rawle is an amazing actor(and a perfect Zorro,I just luv him) he has a very powerful voice(especially in Hope) and Lesli Margherita (Inez,the gypsy queen) is wonderful in Bamboleo and Djobi Djorba another very powerful voice, the rest of the cast add to the flamenco fiesta atmosphere. The music of the Gypsy Kings is so vibrant and passionate you just have to get up and (try) to sing and dance along.I have listened to it constantly since I got it (5 days ago) and it is now one of my favourite west end cast cds and I have a few.Buy it and enjoy.

I am a huge fan of Lion King since I was young, but only recently had the chance to catch the Lion King: Musical at Lyceum London. I already heard the good reviews from friends and colleagues, but nothing can prepare you for this experience! I have never really been a huge fan of musicals, but if there's one musical you ever catch, make sure it's this. Breathtaking sets and costumes, fantastic acting, powerful music and vocals, awe-inspiring coordination, choreography and directing are just some amazing elements of this musical. This leads me to the life of any musical...the songs. When I first saw the film I thought it was a great movie and loved the music in it!! I have now been lucky enough to see the Musical in the West End of London - and, in my opinion, it is twice as good as the film!!... The show is non stop tapping from beginning to end with great acting and superb music!! The music is fresh and vibrant, funny and emotional and just great to listen to again and again!!

As soon as the CD became available, I bought it and began listening to it straight away!! I have to agree with other comments made that it just grows and grows and grows on you. Any one who loves the film will love the CD from the Musical version.

La Cage aux Folles: Original Broadway Cast

Having seen a pro-am production of this show I can say that it is fantastic.I have seen it three times,and at each performance there has been a standing ovation. The musical numbers are wonderful. Take a listen and judge for yourself.
