When I first realised my favourite series was coming out on CD, understandably I was very excited, okay make that a little over excited if you ask my family!
As I was visiting America at the time, I chose to buy it there, and then found the date had been changed. So I eagerly looked forward to September when it would be released. So now with the release date in November, I was begining to believe it would never come out. Now I'm hoping it won't. Going to the American Amazon site, I found some previews of the album, and was very disappointed to learn it wasn't all those fantastic songs I loved to hear, but instead the small pieces of instrumental music that plays when no one really listens, or at least, it grabs the attention when you ... I know I've said it before but I still cannot believe that Brian Tyler, a composer who first came to my attention with the wonderful Bubba Ho-Tep score, could so quickly turn into a hack churning out 'noise' scores for trash movies such as The Fast And The Furious: Tokyo Drift and the inarticulate, bombastic sounds of Alien vs. Predator: Requiem. What a disappointment this obviously talented man has turned out to be. Or was the music of Bubba Ho-Tep merely a fluke?
Living up to Jerry Goldsmith is no easy task even for a vetran, so it puzzles me why Tyler should receive that honor above everyone else. Think of how good the score to Rambo would have been if Chris Young, James Horner or Alan Silvestri had been hired. I'm afraid to ... Read More:

This is a wonderful score, with some good percussion and a latin feel. I haven't listened to the companion soundtrack CD but suspect it's not a patch on this! Whether you're a fan of the film or not, this is definitely worth a listen.
Release Date December 11, 2007
What a wonderful and uplifting album. I saw only a handful of 'The Tudors' episodes on TV but was captivated by the opening theme-tune. I decided to take a chance and purchase the soundtrack CD because of, partly, the other reviews and also the wonderfully cheap price some Marketplace seller's were advertising.
The score is terrific, with haunting melodies and sweeping flute's - very in keeping with the music featured in 'The Lord of the Rings' series. I personally found myself getting caught up in the music (and drama!) of the rising tunes.
Highly recommend - even if not a fan of the series (as I wasn't) because I doubt you'll be disappointed.

Listening to this soundtrack - feels like watching the film, from the opening credits to the tie-fighters attacking the falcon to the death of obi-wan. You simply don't get the same feeling listening to any other soundtrack (maybe because of my mis-spent youth?). Fantastic, iconic, seminal, legendary, universally recognised, i could go on at length - but i think you get the picture. This album really doesn't need reviews anyway, if you've seen the film and liked it and you are looking at this page you'd be mad not to get this (and the other 2 in this trilogy).

Although this clocks in at a short 31 minutes, this is probably Philip Glass's best score for some time (probably since THE HOURS). Dark, sinuous and compelling, this is must for Glass fans and a good intro for newcomers to his unique minimalist soundscapes.
