Horrorscope

"Horrorscope" is a strong follow-up to the great "The Years Of Decay", the riffs are powerful, the drums are good, the songs are actual songs and not just riff after riff with some shouting in between like on "Under The Influence". sure like always in Overkill you can hear a riff or rhythm here or there that reminds you of Slayer, Metallica or Anthrax, therefore i give it only 4 stars, but those moments are really rare on "Horrorscope" compared to other releases by them. there is no weak song on the cd, you can listen to it from beginning to end, it's really enjoyable. The Years of Decay

THIS ALBUM HAS HAD MIXED REVIEWS OVER THE YEARS, SOME GOOD AND SOME BAD...IN MY OPINION IT IS A GOOD ALBUM, THAT MATURES WITH AGE,,WITH CLASSIC TRACKS LIKE "ELIMINATION", "EVIL NEVER DIES" AND THE LIVE FAVORITE "I HATE" YOU CAN'T REALLY GO WRONG...THE SLOWER MOMENTS ON THE ALBUM DESERVE A MENTION TOO, THEY ARE NOT MY MOST MEMORABLE OVERKILL MOMENTS, BUT TRACKS LIKE "WHO TENDS THE FIRE" AND "THE YEARS OF DECAY" STILL SOUND STRONG TODAY..DON'T JUST TAKE MY WORD FOR IT, GIVE IT A SPIN YOURSELF...PLAY IT LOUD !!!!!!

GREAT STUFF, I love this band and even if you don't, you cannot deny the absolute power of this cd. Yeah, these days the production would have been MEGA, but this was out years ago, and still it kills.
Check it out, seriously. DO IT!, DO IT!

Immortalis: +DVD

An excellent return to the old school form for Bobby and the gang.
His voice is as brilliant as ever, and DD's bass lines are filled with some deep groove action. It's not all about the Overkill shred machine either, with lots of rip your face off riff riff riffing. Some might balk at using Randy Blythe (Lamb of God) on vocals for a track, but it adds a real edge to the song, and he plays brilliantly off Bobby's vocal style.

As just a CD it gets 4 stars, but the DVD extra easily makes it to a 5 star package. Taken from their set at Wacken in 2007, it mixes lots of old school, with 2 tracks from this new album, and Necroshine sounds awesome (don't understand why so many Overkill 'fans' dislike this).

WOW WHAT AN OPENING NUMBER..THIS ALBUM STARTS OFF WITH A RIP ROARING SPEED DEMON OF A TRACK AND REALLY NEVER LETS UP FROM START TO FINISH...THIS BEING OVERKILL'S THIRD ALBUM IS LOADED WITH CLASSIC THRASH..OTHER HIGH POINTS ARE "HELLO FROM THE GUTTER", "NEVER SAY NEVER" AND "BRAINFADE"....IN MY OPINION UNDER THE INFLUENCE IS A SOLID THRASH CLASSIC, WHICH ONLY GETS BETTER WITH AGE...DON'T JUST TAKE MY WORD FOR IT...GIVE IT A SPIN !!!!!!! PLAY IT LOUD !!!!!!

Having first bought "Exit the Dragon" I hoped for more of the same, tight alt. indie rock with some attitude. Unfortunately this is not the case with most of the early tracks trying unsuccessfully to be heavy rock. I do like Dropout, Erica Kane and Crackbabies these make the album really worth the time but if you want the real "Urge" go for "Exit..."
