This is a VERY generous selection of songs, and epecially considering the limited amount of "hits" she's had throughout her scattered recording career. So, why is Patti LaBelle considered a legend? She's hasn't had the hits of Aretha Franklin or Dionne Warwick, nor has she accomplished anything in particular; so, why is she a legend? Her voice. It's that simple. She's got a terrific voice. A very powerful voice, and that is what her legend is based on. So, "The Definitive Collection" is a fine overview of her hits, but if you are only just getting into Patti LaBelle, or just curious, you are not likely to know half of the songs included, as many of them only charted in America (and in the lower regions of the r'n'b charts), but with an open ... When a Woman Loves

This is another excellent album my patti labelle, i have to say it makes me laugh in some parts. i mean that in the nicest possible way though for example the first track "THE KITCHEN", you hear her cooking and then on the phone to a friend, class!!. Some of the songs are greatly written such as "IF I WAS A RIVER", and patti of cause sings them amazingly such emotion in each word. I just love to hear her sing. PHENOMONAL.
I don't know what CD the first reviewer was listening to but it certainly was not this one, 3 stars what are you talking about?. Aged divas, i think this CD proves she is no where near the end of her career and the term diva seems to be given to anyone these days so i wouldn't call her that. Anyway great work Patti and ...
