The tenor voice of kenneth mckellar has alwasys amazed me for its scope, tone quality and also cute versatility. He seems so able to sing anything with such convictition yet complet sentiment and feeling, down to last detail. his range of song style is about as wide as it is posible to get; rather then a `fixed` style as so many singers seem to have.to put it another way, he sings the song the way it`s ment to be sung rather then to suit a style of singing that he choose. Classic Songs My Way: 50th Anniversary Edition (2CD)

I bought the special edition for the original hits and whilst "My heart sings" and "My home town" appear in stereo, "Put your head on my shoulder" and "Puppy love" are in mono which is very disappointing as they were in stereo on rhino's and time life's releases many years ago. Why didn't they use all the stereo masters they have?

Paul Anka's hit years, 1957 - 1962, have been poorly served on CD, but this collection from Oz just about does the trick. It has nearly all the ABC-Paramount hits, from Diana to Dance On Little Girl, including Lonely Boy, Crazy Love, Put Your Head On My Shoulder, but excluding Midnight, unfortunately, three from RCA in 1962 - the great Love Me Warm And Tender among them (but not Remember Diana), and then the ghastly (You're) Having My Baby, which took him back to the top of the US charts in 1974. It's as comprehensive as you'll get, and the two missing tracks aside, it's the one to have. A warning to fans to avoid the 21 Golden Hits collection, on RCA, which is in fact inferior re-recordings of the earlier Paramount hits.
