From their beginnings as an instrumental group in the 50s,Paul Revere & the Raiders joined in the Louie Louie race but lost out to the Kingsmen.
A year later a change of direction meant the group would become possibly the finest of all of the British Beat copyists,beginning their account with a nice copy of the Yardbirds called Steppin' Out.
Through the years came the hit singles inspired by the Beatles,the Stones and the Kinks-the latter were recalled for Just like me-apparantly a cover of a regional hit by the writers.

If there was one hit group from the Sixties that I just did not get, it would be Paul Revere & The Raiders. I know they were the best selling American group in terms of fighting back against the British Invasion, a time when only the Beatles and the Rolling Stones were selling more albums, but I still think of them as the definitive B-level group form the period and off the top of my head I can never name any of their hits (I always think of Mark Lindsay's "Arizona" and "Indian Reservation" from his solo career in the Seventies).
