I'm a complete folk music virgin, the only reason I bought this was because Jimmy Page said he liked the guitarist, Bert Jansch. I have to say, a lot of the music on here is not to my taste at all - the female vocals are a bit much in most places, cutting right through the mix and drowning out the guitars. Some songs though are full of nice guitar playing and it's easy to see where Led Zeppelin got some of their ideas from! Overall, as a rock/metal fan, I have to say this isn't really an album I like, but as a look into the roots of modern day heavy rock, it's quite interesting.

The Time Has Come

Anyone considering this box set will most likely already know Pentangle's music. So, no need to mention how wonderful the music is.

However, what is worth mentioning is that Sanctuary reissued this box set in 2008 - and this is the version to get, as the enclosed 60-page booklet is better glued in to the box set and looks like it will not fall apart - a major complaint of the earlier box set version.
