The other reviews here pretty much sum up what I wanted to say: this is perfect pop music from one of the most important and influential figures of all time. In my opinion, Phil Spector is just as crucial to the development of pop music as the Beatles, Stones, Beach Boys etc etc- if not more. The packaging of this box set is wonderful with a lovely book featuring complete lyrics, a couple of fantastic essays on Spector and his music, and lots of gorgeous pictures of both the man himself the artists he produced. The whole package is really lovingly assembled and it's great to see Spector and the artists finally getting the respect they deserve. The Songs of Phil Spector and the Brill Building

Not everything here has a Spector connection-The Coldest Night of the Year was first made by Nino & April for Atlantic and this is the only cover.
Twist & Shout on the other hand DOES-Phil managed to produce the worst ever version of it for the Top Notes and their version coupled Nino & April's Sweet & Lovely in the U K.
Phil actually had very minmal connections as a writer on the songs his name appeared on-it was no more than a courtesy credit.Thus the collection is centered around the songs which came from the Brill Building.
The little known Barbara Ann cut a tremendous version of You've lost that lovin' feelin'-but stood no chance against the 2 charted versions/
