A decent compilation showcasing the depth of The Proclaimers' work. Only problem is that this re-issue is exactly the same as the previous Best of, but for the addition of the new version of 500 Miles. An extra three quid for a novelty track? I think not...
Release Date March 19, 2007
This is worth every penny...it's so much fun. Peter Kay has done it again with a charity single and video that makes you want to sing-a-long and laugh out loud.

Well what can I say.. I've been a Proclaimers fan for a good few years now.. it was because of hearing "I'm On My Way" in the Shrek film that I decided to get the best of album.. and after hearing it, its clear the majority of the good tracks have come from this album.
Sunshine On Leith was a little underated as an album at the time but people have now sat up and paid attention thanks to the inclusion of the aforementioned "I'm On My Way" in the Shrek film to the inclusion of "I'm Gonna Be (500 Miles)" in the Benny and Joon film made back in the early 90's.
My favourites are the obvious: I'm Gonna Be and I'm On My Way but special mention should be made to Then I Met You.. the fast guitar playing and the tight band instrumentation ... Read More:

As has been previously said, Life without you and Whole Wide World are great tracks - but how could you not mention Blood Lying on Snow - a truly excellent track with the kind of lyrics that you think you could write yourself, but of course you couldn't, and the music that goes with it is pure magic - a real rockin track that has your feet tapping while you are singing along.
So when you consider the price of the single - and then look at the price of the album - it makes sense to buy the album as you are going to get at least 3 excellent tracks, and the rest will grow on you.
It is also worth listening to the rest of the tracks just to hear their cracks at Politicians, Singers, Actors etc, their opinions will strike a chord with most of us while ... Read More:

This is perfect for a bit of fun. Bung it in the CD player and sing-a-long. I'd recommend buying this and the DVD as you may need the two different formats depending upon where you plan to use them.
They'd both be well worth the money mind you and it is for a good cause!
Release Date May 28, 2001
Having waited patiently for this latest album from the boys, I cant say I'm dissapointed. Strong vocals mixed with rock and roll with a hint of blues goes to enhance the imaginative lyrics which the boys always produce. Classic songs like Scotlands Story and A Land Fit For Zero's top the bill in my opinion. The latter being one of the best Proclaimers recordings yet. An absolute necessity for my record collection, Persevere does not dissapoint the most critical fan.

Imagine, if you will, that an listening to an album is like watching a boxing match: Most good albums show some nimble manoeuvring, jab steadily and throw 2 or 3 good hooks. There are many albums which flail helplessly before running out of steam. Even some of The Proclaimers efforts have shown moments of real class and had some great punches without consistently impressing. On this album, however, they have obviously been training hard: The Reid brothers come somersaulting into the ring and deliver three knockout punches (Born Innocent, Should have been loved and Blood on your hands) before you can even catch your breath. After that they settle into a solid rhythm, landing more glorious blows until you leave with your head spinning. Edwyn Collins does ... Read More:
