Raising Sand

by: Robert Plant and Alison Krauss

Release Date October 29, 2007
Sadly someone obviously suggested to Robert Plant that this would be a good idea....recording a (mostly) countryesque album with Alison Krauss. They were wrong!! I have no problem with Plant (or anyone else for that matter) trying new things, but please..... this was a bad idea that should have stayed just that.... an idea!! Why on earth so many people feel the need to heap praise on this album is beyond me - it has no redeming qualities to my ears whatsoever - even if Robert Plant is involved.......come to think of it that old story of the Emporer's new clothes comes to mind!!

Fate Of Nations

by: Robert Plant

Release Date March 24, 1997
Rediscovered this album a few weeks back and I can't recommend it too highly. It's one of Plant's best solo albums and a couple of the songs are up there with any Zeppelin classic, Calling to You, I Believe & 29 Palms in particular.

Dreamland

by: Robert Plant

Release Date June 24, 2002
There is a great feel to this album. The tracks slither and glide around your sound system and grow on you over time. In the 5 years's I've had this album it has grown on me like a fine wine.

There are two weak tracks, but don't all albums have those?

The band Plant assembled here (and reprised more or less for Mighty Rearranger) are the best live band I have ever seen... sadly they arent currently touring as Plant is on the road with Alison Krauss.

If they are to record together no more, this album will stand as the zenith of what they achieved - if you like Plant/zep or the general vibe of the 1960's west coast american blues movement you need this album! Its a underrated classic, and tracking back the ... Read More:

No Quarter

by: Jimmy Page Robert Plant

Release Date March 19, 2001
Think of all the Led Zeppelin songs you love. Now think of them all played on "Eastern bazaar" instuments that can't be tuned to the pentatonic scale. This crushingly disappointing album brings nothing to the music that defined a rock standard. Witness the number of copies for sale "new or used", and you will realise that dozens before me made the same bad mistake when they bought this self-indulgent offering from Page and Plant. The reviewers who gave it 5 stars are either suffering cognitive dissonance, or took too many of the drugs that the album's stars enjoyed back when they were good.

Walking Into Clarksdale

by: Robert Plant Jimmy Page

Release Date June 18, 1999
There is a good album in here struggling to get out of the straightjacket imposed on it by Steve Albini, who dampens everything down with a hideous spongy bottom-end production that makes this record sound like it was recorded in a padded cell. I had to look at the credits to realise there was a drummer and bassist present; both sound like they were banished to the studio car park, to keep them out of the sight of the two rock gods whilst they got on with the business of talking about the good old days.

The mighty Most High transcends most of the rest of this material; but Blue Train and When We Were Young are also fine songs. However there are also a couple of duds: House Of Love and the ultimate throwaway Burning Up.

Somebody at ... Read More:

Sixty Six To Timbuktu

What a superb album! Robert Plant's pre-LedZep tracks are truly original, particularly "Hey Joe" which is simply mesmerising. A wonderful addition to your CD collection.

Mighty Rearranger: Remastered & Expanded

by: Robert Plant

Release Date March 20, 2007
Well I think this is a great album but find it almost unlistenable on aything approaching decent stereo because of the relentlessly compressed vocals. Maybe this is why they've remastered it so soon after the initial release and would love to hear a review from someone who has heared the re-mastered version. After being bumped once by Robert Plant I'm reluctant to cough up again unless the poor sound quality has been corrected.
5 Star album + 2 star sound quality = 3 stars. Please bear in mind I've not heard the remaster.

The Principle of Moments: Remastered & Expanded

by: Robert Plant

Release Date April 20, 2007
The "Principle of Moments" is a soft-rock album, don't expect unforgettable songs here with the kind of voice Plant used when in Zeppelin. Some musics are good, others you listen well, but nothing brilliant. The usual 80s synth kind of sound is almost everywhere in the album unfortunnately. I could say that "In the Mood" and "Wreckless Love" are the best songs in here, but the rest its just average. Not Plant at his best.

Release Date November 20, 2006
I love this package and the problem with saying what I like about it is that EVERYONE IS DIFFERENT!

People seem to forget that they are only giving their opinions in reviews like this. It is alright to say a particular track is the best ever but the package is spoiled by the inclusion of another track, because guess what? Someone else will like that track.

Some people have said that there were 'mistakes' but some of those mistakes are Robert's quoted favourite albums. I don't think saying that I love a particular album will get anyone to buy this, nor that I hate one but what I will say is that Robert's music, just like Led Zeppelin, has been a great discovery for me and it's all here, honest and laid bare and so different and yet with a continuous thread ...
