In Reply To Reviewer Mr. S. Dunn "Stephen" - Re: "This is not opera" Comments
Unfortunately you have just shown yourself as being a typical Opera & Classical Music Snob - Sadly it's views like yours that put "Normal" people off listening to these wonderful Songs & beautiful Music & also Singers/Artists like Russell Watson - Yes I love Domingo & Pavarotti - I also love Russell Watson too!!!
Swallow that bitter little pill you are carrying Mr. S. Dunn "Stephen" - Just enjoy Music for what it is & what it means to you - If you don't like the Artist - Then don't listen to them!!
Thank You Russell Watson......Just be you, doing what you do.

This late 2007 album is another to add to the collection for Russell Watson fans. Its a little strange to grasp but the mix of classical and pop is sometimes a good one and Russell is the "Daddy" of crossover the Voice as he is also known as because he has power and range beyond most singers classical or pop that are round at the moment.
There has always been a debate over is classical best for the Voice? as he sings and entertains in his music and the passion and power shows what ever he sings! So its good to hear what else this versatile voice can do!What ever you may think of his success it is undeniable he has talent ,I am sorry but sour grapes just does not cut it with me his success is a reflection of his talent and voic.Come on ! ... Hmm, Yes! He's obviously got a good voice-or he wouldn't have got a recording contract or the backing for tours.
But I WISH someone would polish up his on-stage persona.(Made me cringe!)
His 'cheeky winks' and thumb waving put me in mind of someone saying
"Ayoop Lad, Ow's t'pijjinns? (with his Whippet somewhere in the wings)
Hopefully Russell's pencil-thin figure will appeal to the younger, more health conscious set (Unlike someone we used to love...)

This was an excellent album and a great starting point for anyone who isn't famililar with Watson. The mix of music was excellent. It is a "Greatest Hits" album so obviously there is going to be songs from previous Watson albums (in relation to the value for money comment below). Barcelona is a wonderful song on this album and really tests Watson's upper register well. One criticism, I have a BIG problem with the way in which Russell changes into a "pop"/contemporary type voice for a few of the songs. This seriously reduces his credibilty as a serious tenor and I (along with many other critics) would advise him to stick to the classical/tenor voice and avoid that cheap/tacky boyband voice he forces in some songs. Other than that, an exceedingly ... Read More:
The Voice, released in May 2001, is Russell Watson's debut album and marks the end of his progression from the pub and club circuit, and the start of his recording career after signing with the Decca label.
The album hit No.1 in the UK Classical charts and reached No.5 in the UK Album Chart. Following its release in the US it also hit the top spot, making history as the first time a British artist has topped both the UK and US Classical Charts, and if that wasn't enough, it was awarded `Album of the Year' and 'Best Selling Classical Album' at the Classical BRIT awards in 2001.
The songs are a mix of classical and popular, with the emphasis on the classics to enable its eligibility for that chart: 60% of the playing ... Read More:

This is a fantastic album and shows Russell Watson's versatility, personality, and wide range and amazing strength of his beautiful tenor voice. The CD is a compilation of only some of his best music. To find the rest, ask for, or go online and check him out. You will be amazed at the emotion and depth Russell projects with his voice. He always gives 110 percent in every song. My favorite songs of his are endless. I love the opera, popopera (crossover), pop, romantic ballads. I never tire of listening to him. I can't say that of any other artist I have ever heard. Russell Watson is called "The Voice" and for good reason, he is the best tenor in the world. My 2nd favorite album is his latest "Outside In", a mix of just plain beautiful music, a MUST HAVE ... After watching the film, then buying the book and film guide, this was was a natural choice. I have listened to it more than any other CD in the collection. The orchestral tracks are exremely well composed and performed. There are tracks from the original soundtrack too (including La Scala's spontanious opera songs). A classic!
Reprise, released in November 2002, is Russell Watson's third album and probably represents a more confident and self assured release than his previous `The Voice' and `Encore', thanks to his increasingly successful concert touring and life in the limelight.
But it was also a worrying time during which he suffered a throat polyp, threatening to end his singing career, which was thankfully removed without causing long term problems to his voice.
The songs are a mix of classical, opera and popular, with a distinctly more dramatic feel to those opera choices, the best example being the version of `Granada' which takes on epic proportions with the orchestral score and an individual vocal interpretation which, while straying ... Read More:
Encore, released in 2002, is Russell Watson's follow up album to his hugely successful debut `The Voice' from the previous year. Encore repeated the success of that album by again winning both `Album of the Year' and `Best Selling Classical Album' at the Classical BRIT Awards 2002. Reaching the No.1 spot in both the UK and US Classical Charts, and a top 10 place in the UK Album Chart confirmed Watson's studio success could match that of his stage performances at that time.
As its title suggests, Encore is more of the same from Watson's broad repertoire of classical and popular music and should have equal appeal to fans of his previous album. The classics are all familiar favourites (and who can blame him?, for that's what people are ... Read More:
