Ta Dah!

Despite generally being in to music with more bite and brutality I found it impossible to resist this album; It's fun, sharp, unashamed and stands out in my music collection. The only disappointment for me was that the 'full' versions of many of the songs on this album aren't quite as sharp as the radio edits. It appears they thinned a whole lot of the dead weight from tracks such as 'She's my man' and 'I don't feel like dancin'' before they put them out and the versions recorded in the album lose their flow and poise due to what can only be described padding. The ordering of the tracks isn't great either, it feels like all the songs are clumped and the weaker tracks were just shuffled later in to the order which means you'll probably listen ... This album is track after track of hits. Highly camp, naughty and lots of fun; if you enjoy Mika, Queen's more tongue-in-cheek tracks or Elton John's dance tracks you will probably enjoy this album!

While the fun and funky 'Take Your Mama', 'Music is the victim' (both with echoes of Elton John at his most upbeat), 'Comfortably Numb' (the fantastic cover of Pink Floyd's great track) and 'Filthy/Gorgeous' will have you singing and dancing unashamedly, the gentler 'Mary' and 'Return to Oz' show more depth and tenderness, and are both moving and beautiful. In my opinion just about all the tracks on the album are winners!

A must for any die-hard fan, you've got to like Comfortably Numb because 4 versions is some going on one EP. The Atoc v Superbuddha remix of Filthy Gorgeous is very fresh-sounding and Electrobix is surely dragged sceaming and kicking from the Thomas Dolby archives. Genius. As if it wouldn't be.

This song is just fantastic, no matter what mood your in it will cheer you up no end!!! Personally the Scissor Sisters are one of the best bands around at the moment, they have such a different sound which just grips you instantly, once a fan....always a fan

unbelievably great album - I didn't think they could easily better their first one, but they have! The only let down is the packaging of this edition - it's fun to start with but difficult to store on your CD shelf! The Bonus tracks on disc 2 are worth the 2 or 3 extra quid.

Take Your Mama

The opening song from the brilliant live show, 'Take your Mama' is about as far removed from 'Comfortably Numb' as it gets. It's much less of a dance record, moving more towards guitar pop (in a good way though, it's more like The Thrills than Travis). It's upbeat, funny and feel-good, and if you've seen the live shows it will definitely take you back. Strange choice for the next single though; I would have thought 'Filthy Gorgeous' was the obvious standout track from the album. Anyway, that's enough of my rambling! Great single, great album, from a truly great band. Scissor Sisters will be around for a long time yet, and the world be a better (if slightly more camp!) place for it.
